Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Clarity C440 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 1200mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Clarity C440 cordless phone handset. It slots into the handset battery compartment and restores talk time and standby function when the original cells have degraded. Voltage and connector match the C440's charging circuit directly.

  • C440 handset fit: The C440 runs a single 3.6V Ni-MH cell pack with a fixed connector and polarity. This replacement matches that configuration — same pin layout, same voltage rail, same physical footprint at 50.43 × 42.54 × 14.40mm.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a Ni-MH compatible tester. The BMS held the cells within spec, and the pack accepted a trickle charge from the base station without triggering an error state.
  • First charge on the C440 base: After installing, seat the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before use. Ni-MH packs ship in a partially discharged state — a slow first charge lets the cells reach rated capacity and sets the baseline for subsequent cycles.

Base station showing no charge light on a new Ni-MH pack

Ni-MH packs drop to low resting voltages during storage and shipping. Some cordless phone base stations — including Clarity models — check for a minimum voltage before initiating the charge cycle. If the pack is too far below threshold, the base sees it as absent or faulty and withholds the charge current. Placing the handset in the base for 30 minutes, removing it, then reseating it often prompts the base to retry. If the pack has rested below 3.0V, a compatible external Ni-MH charger can prime it back above the acceptance threshold before returning to the base.

Talk time shorter than expected after fitting a new pack

New Ni-MH cells don't deliver full rated capacity on the first cycle — this is normal chemistry, not a fault. The cells need three to five full charge-and-discharge cycles before they reach 1200mAh. Each cycle, the pack will hold slightly more charge than the last. Run the handset down to low battery warning, return it to the base for a full charge, and repeat — by cycle four or five, talk time should stabilise at rated capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Clarity C440 handset lost its pairing to the base after I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?

Removing the battery cuts all power to the handset, and some DECT phones erase their pairing data when power drops completely. The fix is to re-register the handset through the base station's pairing or registration mode. On most Clarity base stations, press and hold the page or find button on the base for several seconds until the registration light flashes, then follow the handset's on-screen prompts to reconnect. Once paired, charge the handset fully before making a call.

The C440 battery drains completely overnight even when the handset is sitting in the base — what's wrong?

The handset needs solid contact with the base charging pins to receive trickle current in standby. If the handset is slightly misaligned or the pins are dusty, it draws from the battery rather than the base all night. Clean the charging pins on both the handset and the base with a dry cloth, then firmly re-seat the handset — you should hear or feel it click into position. Confirm charging has resumed by checking that the charge indicator light is active on the base.

The C440 loses range quickly after the battery swap — calls cut out further from the base than they used to.

Range drop after a battery swap usually means the pack's voltage is sagging under the RF transmit load before the cells are conditioned. Ni-MH cells deliver weaker current in early cycles, and the DECT transmitter in the C440 handset draws a short burst of power each time it communicates with the base — if voltage dips too low during that burst, the radio backs off its output. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles to condition the cells, and confirm resting voltage is at or above 3.6V after a full charge before testing range again.
