Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Clarity PAL — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V 1200mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Clarity PAL mobile smartphone. It slots in place of the original cell when the factory battery no longer holds a usable charge. Capacity is 4.44Wh — matching the stock specification.

  • Clarity PAL fit: The PAL uses a compact 62.18 × 38.14 × 4.50mm cell format with a low-current BMS tuned for the phone's modem and display load. The connector pinout and protection circuit match the factory cell — the phone's charge IC will recognise the battery on first boot.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and load pulls that mirror modem-active and screen-on draw. The BMS held its low-voltage cutoff correctly and did not trip under the combined load of both subsystems running simultaneously.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging begins on an uncalibrated cell.

Why the Clarity PAL reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The PAL's fuel gauge IC stores a learned discharge curve from the original cell. When a new cell goes in, the IC is still referencing the old curve — so percentage readings drift, spike, or plateau until recalibration happens. One full discharge to automatic shutdown followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% resets the coulomb counter against the new cell's actual capacity. Until that cycle completes, percentage readings should be treated as approximate. After the first full cycle, readings stabilise.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This happens when the modem and screen draw simultaneous current and the cell voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold before the fuel gauge expects it. It is a voltage cliff — the cell cannot sustain voltage under that combined load at lower state-of-charge. The fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the old cell and does not yet know where this cell's voltage cliff sits. Run one full discharge cycle to shutdown and charge back to 100% — after that cycle, the IC repositions its low-voltage warning threshold to match the new cell, typically around 3.5V under load.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Clarity PAL won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few weeks — is the cell dead?

Likely not dead — the BMS has tripped into lockout because the cell self-discharged below 2.5V per cell during storage. Plug the phone into a wall charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes before attempting to power on; the charge IC needs to trickle current into the cell before the BMS will release the lockout. If the charging indicator appears within that window, the cell is recovering normally. If nothing appears on screen after 45 minutes on charge, check the charging port for debris before assuming a cell fault.

Fast charging stopped working after I put the new battery in — the phone charges, but only slowly now.

On the first cycle after a cell swap, some charge ICs on the Clarity PAL default to standard charge rates because the BMS on the new cell has not yet completed a handshake with the phone's USB negotiation logic. Complete one full charge to 100% at the slow rate without interrupting it. On the second charge cycle, fast charging typically re-engages once the charge IC has confirmed the BMS is responding correctly. If slow charging persists past the second cycle, check that the charger and cable both support the required current output.

The battery percentage on my Clarity PAL jumps around erratically — it shows 60%, then drops to 30% in seconds.

Erratic percentage jumps are a fuel gauge IC recalibration issue, not a faulty cell. The IC's coulomb counter is still referencing discharge data from the original battery and loses tracking accuracy when the new cell's voltage curve diverges from the stored model. Run one uninterrupted full discharge — let the phone shut itself off — then charge to 100% without unplugging early. After that single cycle, the coulomb counter resets its reference points against the new cell and percentage readings will stabilise.
