Fits Concept VP4380 vacuum cleaner, replaces OEM part number 42392243.
18.5V and 2600mAh capacity delivers full motor torque on carpet and hard floors.
Connector slides onto the dock contacts with a single locking tab engagement.
We bench-tested this cell in a VP4380 unit; BMS accepted full charge cycle without fault codes.
Do not leave this battery on the charging dock permanently — cordless vacuums develop capacity fade faster under continuous trickle charge, so charge to full and remove immediately.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Concept VP4380 — 18.5V Li-ion Replacement Battery (42392243)

This 18.5V 2600mAh lithium-ion battery replaces the original Concept part number 42392243. It fits the Concept VP4380 cordless vacuum cleaner. Voltage and capacity match the factory specification exactly.

  • VP4380 platform fit: The VP4380 runs an 18.5V motor rail with a specific BMS handshake tied to the 42392243 cell configuration. Swapping to a different voltage pack trips the protection circuit and the vacuum will not start. This cell matches that rail and communicates correctly with the charger.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full charge and discharge on the VP4380 platform. The BMS held cutoff voltage correctly under sustained motor load, and the charger completed a full charge cycle without fault codes.
  • Dock charging habit on the VP4380: Do not leave the VP4380 sitting on the charging dock continuously. Cordless vacuums on permanent dock charge develop capacity fade faster than those charged only when depleted. Charge to full, then remove the vacuum from the dock.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

This happens when the motor draws more current than rated — usually because the filter is partially blocked. Higher draw causes voltage to sag at the cell level before the indicator circuit registers a low-battery state. The BMS reads a load-induced voltage drop, not true depletion, and the vacuum loses suction while the indicator still shows charge. Clear the filter and check the brush roll for hair wrap before assuming the battery is at fault.

Motor cutting out mid-clean and then recovering after a pause

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When sustained suction restriction forces the motor to pull above the BMS threshold, the protection circuit opens and cuts power. A short pause lets the BMS reset and the vacuum runs again. The fix is the filter — a clean filter drops motor current back below the trip threshold. If the fault repeats on a clean filter, measure resting pack voltage; it should sit above 18V after a full charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

My VP4380 has full bars on the indicator but suction is noticeably weaker than when the battery was new — what's happening?

A partially blocked filter forces the motor to draw more current than it should, and that extra load causes voltage to sag at the cell before the indicator drops. The indicator reads state of charge, not motor load, so it stays high while suction suffers. Clean the filter thoroughly and check the brush roll for obstructions. If suction recovers immediately, the battery is fine — the filter was the cause.

The VP4380 cuts out after a few seconds on carpet, then works again if I wait — is the battery failing or is something else going on?

That cut-and-recover pattern is a BMS overcurrent trip, not battery failure. Deep carpet forces the motor to work harder; if current draw exceeds the BMS threshold, it opens the circuit to protect the cell and the vacuum stops. A short rest resets the BMS and power returns. Clean the filter and remove any brush roll blockage — that alone usually brings motor current back below the trip point.

I've had the new battery on the dock for two days since fitting it and the vacuum already feels like it has less charge — is it the battery or the charger?

Leaving the VP4380 on the dock continuously after the charge completes causes trickle-charge stress on the lithium cells, which accelerates capacity fade. Two days of continuous dock charge is enough to noticeably affect usable capacity on a fresh pack. Remove the vacuum from the dock as soon as the charge indicator shows full. Charge only from depleted going forward and the pack will hold capacity correctly.
