Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Cricket Optimus Regard LW770 — 3.7V Li-ion 2400mAh Replacement Battery
This 3.7V 2400mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original cell in the Cricket Optimus Regard (LW770) smartphone. It fits the same physical bay and connects to the same charge IC. Capacity is 2400mAh — listed as 8.88Wh at rated voltage.
- Optimus Regard / LW770 fit: Both model designations refer to the same hardware platform. The voltage rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake are identical across the Regard and LW770 variants, so one cell covers both.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the LW770 platform. The BMS accepted charging, the protection circuit tripped correctly at low-voltage cutoff, and the charge IC completed a full cycle without thermal shutdown.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle. This gives the fuel gauge IC a clean reference curve against the new cell before high-current charging is introduced into an uncalibrated measurement window.
Why the Optimus Regard reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The LW770 uses a coulomb counter that accumulates charge data over time and builds a model of the cell's discharge curve. When you swap the physical cell, that learned curve no longer matches the new cell's actual voltage-to-capacity relationship. The OS reads the old model against the new cell's voltage and outputs a percentage that can be off by 10–20 points. One full discharge down to automatic shutdown, followed by a full charge to 100%, forces the fuel gauge IC to re-anchor its reference points to the new cell. After that cycle, percentage readings stabilise.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% remaining on the replacement cell
This happens when the modem or display pulls a current spike the cell cannot sustain at that state of charge — voltage sags below the BMS cutoff threshold even though the gauge still shows charge remaining. It is more common immediately after installation because the fuel gauge IC is still running on its old discharge model. Run the recalibration cycle first. If shutdowns continue after one full cycle, check that the cell contacts are seated flat — a lifted corner increases contact resistance and worsens voltage sag under load. A correctly seated, calibrated cell should hold voltage above 3.5V under normal screen-on load.

Frequently Asked Questions
The phone powers on briefly then shuts off immediately — won't stay on even connected to the charger. Is the new battery dead?
This is usually a BMS lockout from deep discharge in storage, not a dead cell. When a Li-ion cell drops below approximately 2.5V, the protection circuit opens and refuses to pass current until a trickle pre-charge sequence reactivates it. Leave the phone plugged into a wall charger — not a PC USB port — for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC will push a low-current precharge into the cell until voltage climbs above the BMS re-enable threshold, typically around 3.0V, at which point the phone will boot normally.
Fast charging stopped working after I installed the replacement battery — it only charges slowly now.
On the first cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC on the LW770 sometimes defaults to standard charge current because it hasn't confirmed the new BMS parameters. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. Complete one full slow charge to 100% and one full discharge to auto-shutdown, then reconnect to a fast charger. That cycle lets the charge IC negotiate current limits against the new cell's BMS response. If fast charging still doesn't engage after that cycle, check that you're using the original wall adapter — third-party adapters may not trigger the handshake correctly.
The battery percentage is jumping around erratically — goes from 45% to 70% and back within minutes.
Erratic percentage jumps are the fuel gauge IC recalibrating against a new cell it has no reference data for. The coulomb counter is applying a discharge model built on the old, degraded cell, so it misreads the new cell's voltage at each state of charge. This resolves itself after one full discharge-charge cycle. Drain the phone down until it shuts off automatically, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without unplugging mid-cycle. After that single reference cycle, the gauge IC reanchors its endpoints and percentage readings will track smoothly.
