Fits MetroPCS Admire 4G and Galaxy S Lightray 4G; replaces OEM part EB535163LA.
3.7V, 1400mAh capacity delivers baseline talk and standby time on this platform.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with no locking tab or orientation tricks.
We bench-tested this cell on a Galaxy Admire 4G unit; BMS accepted charge without fault codes.
On first use after installation, run one complete discharge-charge cycle with fast charging disabled — this lets the phone's fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell's discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

MetroPCS Admire 4G / Galaxy S Lightray 4G — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (EB535163LA)

This is a 3.7V, 1400mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the MetroPCS Admire 4G, Samsung Galaxy Admire 4G (SCH-R820), and Galaxy S Lightray 4G. It replaces OEM part numbers EB535163LA and EB535163LAGSTA. Use this when the original cell no longer holds a usable charge or fails to power the device.

  • SCH-R820 and Lightray 4G compatibility: Both the Admire 4G and Galaxy S Lightray 4G share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — that is why a single cell covers both devices without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the SCH-R820 platform. The BMS accepted the cell on first insertion, reported voltage correctly, and the charge IC engaged without error flags.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After installing this cell, disable any fast-charge mode and run one full discharge-to-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter against the new cell's discharge curve before reporting accurate percentages.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Admire 4G after a cell swap

This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still running the discharge curve it learned from the old, degraded cell. When the modem transmits or the screen peaks, the new cell briefly sags in voltage — but the gauge hasn't recalibrated yet, so it reports 25% while the cell is actually near depletion under load. The fix is one complete discharge cycle from 100% down to automatic power-off, then a full uninterrupted charge. After that cycle, the coulomb counter resets to the actual cell capacity and the shutdowns stop.

Phone warm near the battery compartment during first charge

A new Li-ion cell has slightly higher internal impedance than a cell that has been cycled a few times. During the first charge, the charge IC pushes current into that higher-impedance cell, and some of that energy converts to heat rather than stored charge — this is normal and temporary. If warmth is concentrated at the battery cover and fades after the first full charge, no action is needed. If the device becomes hot to the touch or the charge stops before 100%, remove the battery and check that the connector seats fully flat against the contact pins.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Admire 4G powers off at around 25% battery — is the new cell faulty?

It is not a faulty cell. The fuel gauge IC calibrated itself to the old, worn-out cell's discharge curve, and it hasn't learned the new cell's behaviour yet. Run one full discharge — let the phone die on its own — then charge it to 100% without interruption. After that single cycle, the coulomb counter recalibrates and the early shutdowns stop.

The phone won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — what happened?

Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage. If the cell dropped below approximately 2.5V, the BMS enters a lockout state to prevent damage and the phone won't respond to the power button. Plug into a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing anything. The charge IC trickle-charges the cell back above the BMS threshold, at which point the phone will boot normally.

Why does the battery percentage jump around erratically — showing 60%, then 45%, then back to 55% within minutes?

The fuel gauge IC uses a coulomb counter that was trained on the previous cell's charge and discharge behaviour. With a new cell installed, those reference points no longer match, so the reported percentage oscillates as the IC tries to reconcile real-time voltage readings against a stale model. Complete two full discharge-charge cycles — phone off by itself each time, then charged uninterrupted to 100% — and the gauge will stabilise against the new cell's actual characteristics.
