Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Datalogic Axist — 3.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (94ACC0128)
This 3.8V, 3200mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original pack in the Datalogic Axist and DL-Axist handheld mobile computers. These scanners are used in retail and warehouse environments where the device runs scan-and-transmit cycles throughout a full shift. Capacity matches the OEM spec at 12.16Wh.
- Axist and DL-Axist compatibility: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions, 3.8V cell architecture, and BMS handshake protocol — a single pack covers the full Axist platform without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through scan-trigger and wireless radio loads simultaneously. The BMS handled combined inrush without tripping, and cell voltage held steady through repeated burst sequences.
- First-shift preparation: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle and run a full charge cycle before pulling it into active use. The scan trigger draws peak current when the cell sits near its minimum — a fully charged cell prevents false BMS cutoffs on the opening shift.
Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack
Charging errors on a new pack almost always trace back to contact resistance between the battery terminals and the cradle dock pins. Oxidation, dust, or a slightly misaligned seating can interrupt the charge handshake before it starts. Wipe the gold contacts on both the battery and the cradle with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat the scanner firmly until you hear it click. If the error clears, the cell will begin charging — confirm with a steady charge indicator on the cradle.
Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
During a rapid scan sequence, the imager and the wireless radio draw current at the same time. If the cell voltage sags below the radio module's minimum operating threshold, the wireless link drops even though the scanner appears otherwise functional. A degraded or deeply discharged pack amplifies this sag. Charge the battery to full — 4.2V at the cell — and retest; if the drops stop, the pack was undervoltage rather than faulty.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Axist scanner powers on fine but stops reading barcodes right after I swap in the new battery — what's wrong?
The imager needs a minimum voltage to fire consistently, and a freshly installed pack that hasn't been charged yet may sit too low to sustain it. Put the scanner in the cradle and charge it fully before scanning. We saw this same behaviour on the bench when we started testing at low state-of-charge — once the cell reached 4.0V, the imager fired without fault every cycle.
My Axist runs noticeably shorter shifts with the new battery compared to the old one in its first week — is that normal?
Li-ion cells deliver their rated capacity only after two or three full charge-discharge cycles — the first few shifts will feel shorter. Shallow cycling, where the scanner only partially discharges before going back on the cradle, also reduces the effective capacity the BMS reports. Run the scanner through two or three full cycles: discharge through normal use until the low-battery warning appears, then charge to 100% each time. Capacity should stabilise at the rated 3200mAh by the third cycle.
The Axist feels noticeably warm after a long pick-and-pack shift — is the battery causing it?
Heat during an extended shift is normal when the imager and wireless radio run continuously inside a compact housing with limited airflow. The battery contributes some warmth under sustained load, but it should not feel hot to the touch — warm is expected, hot signals a problem. If the housing exceeds a temperature where it's uncomfortable to hold, dock the scanner and let it cool to room temperature before charging. Check that the battery contacts are clean and fully seated, as high contact resistance generates additional heat at the terminal interface.
