Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Zebra TC21 / TC26 Series — 3.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BT-000409)
This 3.8V, 3050mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original pack in the Zebra TC21 and TC26 series handheld mobile computers. It covers TC21, TC26, TC26AK, TC210, and related variants using the BT-000409 battery platform. Capacity figure comes from product data — 11.59Wh total energy.
- TC21 / TC26 platform fit: These models share a common battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The TC21 and TC26 both run on the same 3.8V cell architecture, so one pack covers the full variant range without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on a TC26 unit and monitored the BMS communication. The protection circuit responded correctly to charge termination and low-voltage cutoff — no false trips under normal scan-and-radio load.
- First-shift cradle prep: After installing, seat the scanner in its charging cradle for a full charge cycle before starting pick-and-pack operations. Scan trigger inrush current is highest when the cell is near minimum — a pre-charged cell prevents false BMS trips on the first shift pull.
Cradle showing charging error on a new pack
A charging error on the dock with a new battery is almost always a contact resistance issue, not a faulty cell. The TC21 cradle uses spring-loaded contacts that pick up warehouse dust and oxidation quickly. Wipe the gold contacts on both the battery and the cradle cup with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat the scanner firmly. If the error clears within 30 seconds, the contacts were the cause — the pack itself was fine.
Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
During high-frequency scanning, the TC21 draws simultaneously from the imager, the Wi-Fi radio, and the processor. That combined inrush can pull the cell voltage low enough for the BMS to throttle output momentarily, which the radio interprets as a power fault and drops its session. This is more likely on a cell that hasn't completed its first full charge cycle. Charge fully before first use and check that the cradle contacts are clean — a dirty contact adds resistance that worsens voltage sag under load.

Frequently Asked Questions
The TC21 imager is powering on but not reading barcodes after I swapped the battery — what's happening?
The imager needs a minimum voltage to fire at full power, and a new pack straight out of packaging may not be at full charge. Seat the scanner in the cradle and let it charge completely before testing the read function. If barcodes still fail after a full charge, check that the battery contacts are fully engaged — a slightly unseated pack causes intermittent voltage drops that reduce imager output below the threshold needed for a reliable decode. Reseat the pack and confirm it clicks into the lock position.
My TC21 runs noticeably shorter shifts than the old battery did — is that normal for a new replacement?
A new Li-ion cell often delivers below its rated capacity for the first two to three charge cycles before the chemistry stabilises. Scan burst frequency and Wi-Fi polling interval both pull from the same cell simultaneously, which accelerates voltage drop under sustained warehouse load. Run three full charge-discharge cycles through normal use before drawing conclusions about shift endurance. If capacity still feels short after that, check whether the unit is connected to a 2.4GHz network — 5GHz polling draws less radio power on supported TC26AK variants.
The TC21 feels noticeably warm after a long scanning shift — is the battery causing that?
Warmth during extended shifts is normal for this form factor. The TC21 houses the battery, imager, processor, and radio in a compact shell with limited thermal mass, so heat from sustained scan-plus-wireless draw accumulates in the housing. The BMS monitors cell temperature and will reduce charge acceptance if the pack gets too hot in the cradle immediately after a warm shift. Let the unit cool for five minutes before docking — this prevents the charger from throttling the charge rate and gives you a more complete refill before the next shift.
