Fits Datalogic BY-01 barcode scanner; replaces OEM part numbers BY-01 and 700311800.
3.7V, 3200mAh lithium-ion cell delivers full power to laser or imager circuits during active scanning.
Connector seats vertically into the scanner battery slot with a single locking tab on the right side.
We bench-tested this cell in a BY-01 dock; BMS accepted charge current without fault codes on first insertion.
After installing, place the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before starting pick-and-pack — the scan trigger draws peak current when the cell is near minimum and a pre-charged pack prevents false BMS shutdowns on the first shift.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Datalogic BY-01 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BY-01 / 700311800)

This 3.7V, 3200mAh Li-ion battery fits the Datalogic BY-01 handheld barcode scanner. It replaces OEM parts BY-01 and 700311800. The BY-01 scanner is a compact unit used across retail, warehousing, and logistics pick-and-pack operations.

  • BY-01 scanner platform fit: The BY-01 battery uses a 3.7V single-cell architecture matched to the scanner's imaging and wireless communication circuits. The connector pinout and BMS communication protocol align directly with the OEM charge management system inside the device.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge cycles on the BY-01 and monitored BMS handshake, cutoff thresholds, and charge acceptance. The protection circuit triggered correctly at both high-current scan bursts and low-voltage cutoff, consistent with OEM behaviour.
  • First-shift prep for pick-and-pack use: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before putting it on the floor. Scan trigger inrush current is highest when the cell is near minimum charge, and a pre-charged pack prevents false BMS trips when your team starts their first shift.

Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack

The BY-01 cradle reads the battery's charge state through contact pins on the base of the scanner. If those contacts are dirty or slightly misaligned, the dock reports a fault even when the pack itself is fine. Wipe the gold contacts on both the battery and the cradle with a dry cloth, then reseat the scanner firmly until it clicks. If the error clears within 60 seconds, contact resistance was the cause — not a faulty cell. The cradle should register a normal charge state above 3.0V at rest.

Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts

During a fast scanning sequence, the BY-01 draws simultaneously from the imager, processor, and wireless radio. If the cell voltage sags under that combined load, the radio drops its connection before the scanner fully powers off — it looks like a wireless fault, but it is a power delivery issue. A fully charged pack handles the inrush; a partially depleted or degraded cell cannot sustain the voltage rail. Check the open-circuit voltage with a multimeter — anything below 3.5V under no load indicates the cell needs charging or has degraded past useful capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions

My BY-01 scanner stopped reading barcodes right after I swapped the battery — what's wrong?

The imager needs a minimum supply voltage to fire the laser or LED array. If the replacement pack shipped partially discharged, the cell voltage may be too low to power the imaging module even though the scanner appears to be on. Place the scanner in the cradle and charge it fully before use. Once the pack reaches 4.1V–4.2V, the imager should return to normal operation.

The scanner feels warm after a long shift — is that a battery problem or a device problem?

Sustained scanning combined with continuous wireless polling generates heat inside the BY-01's compact housing. The battery itself will be slightly warm under that combined draw, which is normal. What is not normal is the scanner becoming too hot to hold comfortably — that points to a cell that has degraded internally and is dissipating energy as heat rather than delivering it as usable current. If warmth is excessive, check the pack's resting voltage after a full charge; a degraded cell will sit below 4.0V at full charge termination.

The new battery seems to run out faster than expected on high-volume scanning days — what's causing that?

Scan burst frequency and wireless polling both draw from the same cell simultaneously. On a high-volume shift, the combined draw is significantly higher than light or intermittent use, and actual endurance will be shorter than on a quiet shift. That said, if endurance dropped sharply from the very first cycle, check that the pack completed a full initial charge in the cradle before use — an incomplete first charge reduces available capacity until the cell is fully cycled. Run one complete charge-discharge-charge cycle and compare shift performance before drawing conclusions about the pack.
