Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Datalogic Gryphon GM4500 / GBT4500 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BT-47)
This is a 3.7V, 2600mAh Li-ion cell that fits the Datalogic Gryphon 4500, GM4500, and GBT4500 handheld barcode scanners. It replaces OEM part numbers BT-47, 128004721, TW18050652, and RBP-GM45. Connector, BMS handshake, and physical form factor match the original pack.
- GM4500 and GBT4500 platform fit: Both corded and Bluetooth variants of the Gryphon 4500 run on the same 3.7V single-cell architecture. The BMS handshake protocol is identical across the platform, so one pack covers both scanner types without firmware conflicts.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated scan-trigger bursts and wireless polling sequences on a GBT4500 unit. The BMS held charge cutoff at 4.2V and low-voltage protection tripped cleanly at 3.0V with no false shutdowns during rapid scanning.
- First-shift cradle protocol: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before pulling it into pick-and-pack operations. The scan trigger draws the highest inrush current when the cell is near minimum, and a fully charged pack prevents false BMS trips on the opening shift.
Cradle showing charging error on a new pack
Charging docks for the Gryphon 4500 sense current flow through spring-loaded contacts on the scanner base. Even minor oxidation or debris on those contacts raises resistance enough for the dock to flag a fault and refuse to charge. This is not a cell defect — it is a contact handshake failure. Remove the scanner, wipe the gold contacts on both the pack and the dock with a dry cloth, then reseat firmly. If the error clears, the circuit is complete and charging will proceed normally.
Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
The GBT4500 runs its Bluetooth radio and imager from the same 3.7V cell simultaneously. During rapid scan sequences, the combined inrush from the imager trigger and the radio transmit pulse can momentarily sag cell voltage below the radio's minimum operating threshold, dropping the wireless link. This is most common when the battery is below 20% charge. The fix is straightforward: keep the pack above 3.6V during high-volume scan shifts by rotating charged spares at the cradle rather than running cells to cutoff.

Frequently Asked Questions
The scanner passes self-test but won't read any barcodes after I swapped the battery — what's wrong?
The Gryphon 4500 imager needs a minimum supply voltage to power the illumination and decode logic. If the replacement pack shipped partially discharged, the cell voltage may be too low to drive the imager even though the scanner appears to boot. Seat the scanner in its cradle and charge to full before attempting a scan — the BMS on this pack requires the cell to reach 4.2V before the imager draws correctly. Once fully charged, scan performance returns to normal.
My GBT4500 is warm after an extended shift — is that a battery problem or the scanner?
Sustained heat after a long shift is normal for this platform. The Gryphon GBT4500 runs the Bluetooth radio, imager, and decode processor continuously in an enclosed plastic housing with no active cooling. The 3.7V cell itself generates modest heat under sustained discharge, and that heat has nowhere to go inside the housing. If the scanner is too hot to hold comfortably, rotate it to a cradle to cool and charge — do not store it in a sealed bag or case while still warm, as that traps heat against the cell.
The new battery seems to drain faster than expected on high-scan-frequency shifts — what's causing that?
High-frequency scanning puts a heavier load on a 2600mAh cell than casual retail use because each scan trigger fires the imager and, on the GBT4500, also triggers a Bluetooth transmission. The combined draw shortens each charge cycle compared to low-volume use. If your scan frequency is above roughly 200 scans per hour, factor in cradle rotations rather than expecting a single pack to cover a full shift. Check cell voltage at the scanner's battery status indicator — if it reads below 3.6V mid-shift, your operation warrants a second charged pack in the rotation.
