Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Zebra DS3600 / DS3678 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BTRY-36IAB0E-00)
This 3.7V, 2200mAh Li-ion battery replaces the OEM pack in the Zebra DS3600 and DS3678 handheld barcode scanners, along with the LI3600 and EVM series. It matches the original cell format, connector, and BMS communication protocol. Capacity is rated at 8.14Wh, consistent with the factory spec.
- DS3600 and DS3678 platform fit: These models share the same battery bay geometry, contact pin arrangement, and BMS handshake protocol. One pack covers the full scanner family without adapter or modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack in a DS3678 cradle and across scan trigger cycles. The BMS held charge acceptance within spec and showed no false low-voltage trips during simulated burst scanning with active Bluetooth.
- First-shift preparation for pick-and-pack use: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle and run a full charge cycle before pulling it into a pick-and-pack shift. Scan trigger inrush current peaks when the cell is near minimum charge — a pre-charged pack prevents false BMS cutoff on the first heavy burst of the day.
Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack
A charging fault on a new battery is almost always a contact issue, not a pack failure. The DS3600 cradle uses gold-plated pogo pins that pick up oxidation and debris from warehouse floors quickly. Dirty contacts raise resistance enough that the cradle's charge controller reads an open circuit or over-temperature condition and throws an error. Remove the pack, wipe both the battery contacts and cradle pins with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat firmly until you hear the latch click.
Scanner dropping wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
During a fast scan burst, the imager and Bluetooth radio draw current simultaneously — a combined inrush the BMS can briefly flag as an overload if the cell voltage is already low. When the BMS trips, the radio drops its connection before the imager cuts out, so the scanner appears to scan but data stops transmitting. This is not a radio fault. Charge the pack to full before the shift and monitor for the same drop — if it recurs only below roughly 3.5V under load, the cell is reaching end-of-life and the pack needs replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions
My DS3678 won't read barcodes right after I put in the new battery — is something wrong with the pack?
Nothing is wrong with the pack. The DS3600 series imager requires enough cell voltage to power the illumination array at full output, and a new battery shipped in storage state may sit below that threshold. Place the scanner in its cradle and charge to 100% before use. If the imager still fails to read after a full charge, check that the battery contacts are seated flush — a partially engaged pack will show a partial charge indicator but deliver insufficient current.
The charging cradle flashes an error LED when I insert the new battery, but the original pack charged fine.
This is almost always contact resistance on the new pack rather than a compatibility fault. New battery contacts sometimes have a light protective film or minor oxidation from storage. Remove the pack and wipe the four gold contacts on the battery and the pogo pins inside the cradle with a dry lint-free cloth. Reseat the pack with firm downward pressure until it clicks, and the error LED should clear within 10 seconds.
The DS3600 gets noticeably warm after a long shift — is the battery overheating?
The DS3600 housing is compact and enclosed, so heat from sustained scan-plus-wireless draw accumulates faster than it dissipates. Some warmth is normal. What matters is the surface temperature — if the back of the scanner is too hot to hold comfortably, the BMS will have already reduced charge acceptance to protect the cell. Let the unit cool before reseating it in the cradle, and allow a full charge cycle to complete before the next shift. If warmth is consistent and excessive from early in the shift, check that the scanner's wireless polling interval is not set abnormally high in the device configuration.
