Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Honeywell 8680i Smart Wearable Scanner — 3.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BAT-SCN02)
This 3.8V 2100mAh Li-ion cell replaces the OEM pack in the Honeywell 8680i and 8680i Smart Wearable Scanner. It matches the original voltage rail and connector footprint for the worn-on-hand form factor used in pick-and-pack and inventory operations. Capacity is sourced from the product specification — 2100mAh (7.98Wh).
- 8680i and 8680i Smart Wearable compatibility: Both scanner variants run the same 3.8V power bus and share the BAT-SCN02 and BAT-SCN03 OEM part numbers. The BMS handshake, connector pinout, and cell dimensions (56.05 × 53.70 × 19.90mm) are identical across the two models, so one replacement covers both.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled the pack through combined wireless polling and rapid scan-trigger draws. The BMS held stable through burst-scan sequences and did not trip on the inrush current spike produced when the scan engine fires at low cell voltage.
- First-shift preparation for wearable scanners: After installing, seat the scanner in its charging cradle and complete a full charge cycle before the shift begins. The scan trigger inrush current is highest when the cell sits near minimum voltage — a fully charged cell prevents false BMS trips during the first heavy pick run of the day.
Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack
The 8680i cradle reads battery state through the dock contacts on the underside of the pack. If those contacts carry oxidation or assembly residue from shipping, the cradle throws a charging fault even when the cell itself is fine. Wipe the gold contacts on both the battery and the cradle bay with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat the scanner firmly until you hear the click. The dock should begin a charge cycle within 10 seconds of a clean contact seating.
Scanner dropping wireless connection mid-scan burst
The 8680i fires both the scan engine and the wireless radio simultaneously during a rapid burst sequence. The combined inrush draw can cause a momentary voltage sag on a partially depleted cell, which the BMS interprets as an undervolt event and briefly cuts output. This shows up as a dropped Bluetooth or Wi-Fi link right after a series of fast trigger pulls. Start the shift with a fully charged pack — a cell sitting above 3.7V handles the combined draw without sag.

Frequently Asked Questions
The 8680i scanner stopped reading barcodes right after I swapped the battery — what's wrong?
The scan engine needs a minimum supply voltage to fire the imager at full intensity. If the replacement pack shipped partially discharged, the cell voltage may be too low to sustain the imager's inrush current on the first trigger pull. Place the scanner in its cradle and charge it fully before use. Once the cell reaches 3.8V, the imager fires consistently and read rates return to normal.
My 8680i feels warm after a long picking shift — is that a problem with the new battery?
The 8680i generates heat from two sources at once: the scan engine firing repeatedly and the wireless radio polling continuously, both inside a compact wearable housing with limited airflow. A warm pack after a sustained shift is normal for this form factor and does not indicate a cell fault. If the housing feels hot rather than warm, check that the scanner's wireless polling interval is not set to its fastest rate unnecessarily — reducing poll frequency lowers the combined thermal load on the pack.
The new battery drains faster on busy shifts than it did on quieter days — is the cell faulty?
This is expected behaviour, not a cell defect. Scan burst frequency and wireless polling rate both draw current simultaneously, and a high-volume pick shift can pull two to three times the current of a light scanning session. The 2100mAh cell is not faulty; the load profile on a busy shift is simply higher. If endurance is a consistent concern on peak days, keep a second charged pack in the cradle and swap at the shift midpoint.
