Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Dell Inspiron 14V / 14R Series — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (W4FYY)
This is an 11.1V, 6600mAh (73.26Wh) lithium-ion battery for the Dell Inspiron 14V, 14VR, 14R-346, and M4010. It replaces OEM parts W4FYY, X3X3X, 0M4RNN, 0KCFPM, 312-1231, FMHC10, KG9KY, and TKV2V. The connector and BMS handshake match the original, so the laptop recognises the pack on first boot.
- Inspiron 14V / 14R platform compatibility: These models share the same 11.1V three-cell rail, identical connector pinout, and the same SMBus communication protocol for BMS data. The same pack works across all variants without any adapter or firmware change.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack on an Inspiron M4010 and monitored BMS communication via SMBus. The cell reported correct voltage, state-of-charge, and temperature readings to the EC from the first connection. Charge acceptance held steady at the full 6600mAh rating.
- Post-install discharge cycle on the Inspiron 14V: After installing, run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after a cell swap. Skip this step and the fuel gauge IC will carry stale calibration data from the old pack.
Why the Inspiron 14V shuts down at 20–30% after a battery swap
The EC maps the old cell's discharge curve against incoming voltage readings. A new cell with a different internal resistance profile hits what the EC reads as a voltage cliff under combined CPU and display load — triggering shutdown well before actual depletion. This is not a faulty pack. Running two to three full discharge-and-charge cycles allows the fuel gauge IC to re-map the actual curve against the new cell chemistry. After calibration, the shutdown threshold drops back to the correct low-voltage cutoff near 10.8V.
BIOS reporting wrong Wh rating after installing this pack
The Wh value displayed in BIOS and Dell Power Manager reads from EEPROM data embedded in the pack, not from live cell measurement. If the figure shown differs from 73.26Wh, the EEPROM rated value reflects factory cell tolerances rather than a calibration error or incompatibility. Actual charge capacity is not affected. To confirm real capacity, run a full cycle and check the mWh figure in HWiNFO64 — it should land within 3–5% of 73,260mWh after two calibration cycles.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Inspiron 14V shows "plugged in, not charging" after fitting the new battery — what's going on?
This usually means the EC did not complete its handshake with the new pack's BMS on first boot. Shut down fully, remove the AC adapter, hold the power button for 15 seconds to drain residual charge from the board, then reconnect AC before the battery and boot again. If charging still does not start, check that the battery connector is fully seated — a half-connected SMBus pin stops the charge circuit before a single cell gets current.
The fuel gauge on my Inspiron 14R jumps from 60% to 15% in minutes — is the replacement cell defective?
It is not defective. The fuel gauge IC is still running the discharge curve from the old, degraded cell. The new cell's voltage-versus-capacity profile is different, so the IC misreads state-of-charge badly for the first few cycles. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate then uninterrupted charge-to-100% cycles and the IC re-calibrates against the actual new cell data. After that, the gauge stabilises — typical accuracy returns within ±5% by the third cycle.
Dell Power Manager flags this battery as "poor health" immediately after install — should I return it?
No — this is an EEPROM mismatch, not a cell fault. The health rating pulls cycle-count and wear data from the pack's EEPROM, which ships at factory defaults and looks degraded to Dell's software until a learn cycle runs. Do a full discharge to hibernate-cutoff followed by a continuous charge to 100% without interruption. After that single cycle, Power Manager re-reads the EEPROM state and the poor health flag clears on the next boot.
