Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Dell Inspiron 15RV / 15 3521 — 14.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (MR90Y)
This 14.8V, 2700mAh (39.96Wh) Li-ion battery replaces the original cell in the Dell Inspiron 15RV, Inspiron 15 3521, Inspiron 14R 5421, and over 200 additional Inspiron-series models. It cross-references OEM part numbers including MR90Y, XCMRD, T1G4M, YGMTN, and 312-1390 among others. If the original cell no longer holds charge or the BIOS flags a health warning, this is the direct cell swap.
- Inspiron 15RV and 15 3521 platform compatibility: These models share the same 14.8V four-cell battery rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — which is why a single cell services the full range of MR90Y cross-references listed above.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge, discharge, and wake-from-hibernate sequences on the Inspiron 15 3521. The BMS negotiated correctly, charge termination triggered at the expected voltage ceiling, and the fuel gauge IC registered the new capacity within two full cycles.
- Post-install calibration on the Inspiron 15RV: After fitting this cell, run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after fitting a new cell
The Dell BIOS reads health data from EEPROM stored on the battery's PCB. When a new cell is installed, the EEPROM values do not yet match what the BIOS expects from a charged, calibrated pack — so it flags the battery as degraded or unknown. This is a data mismatch, not a fault with the cell itself. Run one complete discharge-to-hibernate cycle followed by a full uninterrupted charge. After two to three cycles, the BIOS learn routine updates its reference data and the warning clears.
Laptop shuts down abruptly at 20–30% charge shown on screen
This happens when the cell voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge IC predicts under combined CPU and display load. The gauge was calibrated against the old, degraded cell — so its discharge curve no longer matches the new cell's actual voltage profile. The laptop hits the BMS low-voltage cutoff while the OS still reads 20–30% remaining. After two full discharge-to-hibernate and charge-to-100% cycles, the fuel gauge IC recalibrates against the new cell's curve and the shutdowns stop.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Dell Inspiron 15RV BIOS says the new battery is in "poor health" right after I installed it — is the cell faulty?
The cell is not faulty. Dell's BIOS reads health data from the EEPROM on the battery PCB, and a freshly installed cell carries default values that the BIOS interprets as a degraded pack. Run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After two to three cycles the BIOS learn routine rewrites its reference data and the warning clears.
Windows is showing a completely wrong Wh rating for this battery — it says something different from the 39.96Wh on the listing.
The Wh figure Windows displays is pulled from the EEPROM on the battery PCB, which stores a rated design capacity that can differ from the actual chemistry spec of the replacement cell. This is a data reporting difference, not a sign the cell is underperforming. Let the battery complete two full charge and discharge cycles — the fuel gauge IC will converge on the actual capacity and the reported figure will stabilise.
The charge percentage on my Inspiron 15 3521 is jumping around wildly — it reads 60% one minute then 45% the next.
The fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the discharge curve of the old, worn cell. A new cell has a different voltage-to-capacity curve, so the gauge misreads the state of charge until it recalibrates. Discharge the laptop fully until it hibernates, then charge it to 100% without interruption — repeat this twice. By the third cycle the gauge IC locks onto the new cell's curve and the readings stabilise.
