Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Dell Venue 10 Pro 5056 — 7.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (GFKG3)
This 7.4V, 4100mAh (30.34Wh) lithium-polymer cell replaces the original GFKG3 battery in the Dell Venue 10 Pro and Venue 10 Pro 5056 tablets. It fits the same internal bay and connects to the same BMS circuit as the factory unit. OEM part numbers GFKG3, 0VN25R, and VN25R all reference this same cell.
- Venue 10 Pro and 5056 fitment: Both models share the same 7.4V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. A single cell covers either variant — no adapter or modification needed.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge, full discharge, and BMS communication checks. The fuel gauge IC reported capacity correctly after two calibration cycles, and the protection circuit tripped at the correct low-voltage threshold.
- Post-install discharge cycle for the Venue 10 Pro: After fitting this cell, let the tablet discharge fully until it hibernates on its own, then charge it uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.
BIOS reporting battery health as poor after fitting a new GFKG3 cell
The Venue 10 Pro stores battery health data in EEPROM on the old cell. When a new cell goes in, the BIOS reads no cycle history and flags the battery as degraded or unknown. This is a data mismatch, not a fault with the replacement. Run one full discharge-to-hibernate cycle followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100%. After two to three cycles, the BIOS learn routine rewrites the health register and the warning clears.
Tablet shuts down at 20–30% charge shown on screen
This happens when the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's voltage curve. The Venue 10 Pro's display and CPU together draw enough current that a miscalibrated gauge reads the voltage cliff on the new cell as 20–30% when the cell is actually near depletion. The fix is not a hardware swap — it is a calibration issue. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate cycles without interrupting the charge, and the gauge recalibrates its reference points. After those cycles, the percentage readout aligns with the actual cell voltage, which should sit above 7.0V at 20% remaining.

Frequently Asked Questions
Dell Venue 10 Pro shows battery as "Unknown" or 0% right after I put the new cell in — is it dead on arrival?
It is not a dead cell. The Venue 10 Pro reads health and state-of-charge data from EEPROM written by the old battery. A brand-new cell has no history in that register, so the BIOS reports it as unknown or empty. Let the tablet discharge fully to hibernate, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After one or two full cycles, the BIOS learn routine populates the register and the readout corrects itself.
Windows says this battery has a different Wh rating than the original — should the numbers match?
They often do not match exactly on first boot. The Wh figure Windows displays is pulled from the EEPROM design-capacity field, which reflects the rated chemistry spec the firmware expects — not a live measurement of the new cell. The GFKG3 is rated at 30.34Wh. If Windows shows a slightly different figure, run two full discharge-to-charge cycles. The fuel gauge IC updates its calculated Wh value as it maps the new cell's actual voltage curve, and the reported figure will converge toward 30.34Wh.
New battery charges fine but the Venue 10 Pro cuts out under load even though the gauge shows charge remaining — what causes that?
This is a voltage sag issue. When the CPU and display both draw at full load, the cell voltage drops sharply near the bottom of its charge curve. If the fuel gauge IC is not yet calibrated to the new cell, it can misread that sag and trigger a shutdown while still showing 15–25% on screen. Run two full discharge cycles — let the tablet hibernate on its own each time, then charge to 100% without interruption. After calibration, the gauge tracks the voltage drop accurately and the premature shutdowns stop.
