The Venue 10 Pro's display and CPU together draw enough current that a miscalibrated gauge reads the voltage cliff on the new cell as 20–30% when the cell is actually near depletion. The fix is not a hardware swap — it is a calibration issue. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate cycles without interrupting the charge, and the gauge recalibrates its reference points. After those cycles, the percentage readout aligns with the actual cell voltage, which should sit above 7.0V at 20% remaining.

Windows says this battery has a different Wh rating than the original — should the numbers match?

They often do not match exactly on first boot. The Wh figure Windows displays is pulled from the EEPROM design-capacity field, which reflects the rated chemistry spec the firmware expects — not a live measurement of the new cell. The GFKG3 is rated at 30.34Wh. If Windows shows a slightly different figure, run two full discharge-to-charge cycles. The fuel gauge IC updates its calculated Wh value as it maps the new cell's actual voltage curve, and the reported figure will converge toward 30.34Wh.

New battery charges fine but the Venue 10 Pro cuts out under load even though the gauge shows charge remaining — what causes that?

This is a voltage sag issue. When the CPU and display both draw at full load, the cell voltage drops sharply near the bottom of its charge curve. If the fuel gauge IC is not yet calibrated to the new cell, it can misread that sag and trigger a shutdown while still showing 15–25% on screen. Run two full discharge cycles — let the tablet hibernate on its own each time, then charge to 100% without interruption.
