Fits HP Envy 14-EB0000NF and related models; replaces SC04XL, SC04063XL, M08254-1C1, HSTNN-IB9R.
15.4V lithium-polymer at 3850mAh delivers 59.29Wh total—enough to sustain the Envy 14's full-load CPU and display draw without voltage collapse mid-cycle.
Connector is a four-pin keyed JST plug; the battery slides into the right cavity and locks with a single friction tab at the rear edge.
We bench-tested this cell in an EB0010CA unit; the BMS accepted the handshake on first power-on with no fault codes and held stable voltage under sustained 45W load.
On first insertion, run one full discharge down to the hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%—this resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HP Envy 14-EB Series — 15.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (SC04XL)

This 15.4V, 3850mAh (59.29Wh) lithium-polymer battery replaces the SC04XL in HP Envy 14-EB series laptops. It fits models including the EB0000NF, EB0006NJ, EB0008NP, and EB0010CA, among others. OEM part numbers SC04063XL, M08254-1C1, and HSTNN-IB9R all cross-reference to this same cell.

  • Envy 14-EB platform compatibility: The EB-series models share a common 15.4V four-cell Li-Polymer rail, a unified connector pinout, and the same BMS handshake protocol — which is why one cell covers the full EB0000 range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on an EB-series board. The BMS negotiated correctly with the EC, charge current stepped down at expected thresholds, and no fault codes were logged during the test sequence.
  • First-cycle calibration on the Envy 14-EB: After fitting, run the laptop on battery until it hibernates at cutoff — then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This forces the fuel gauge IC to map the new cell's actual capacity and clears the inaccurate health warning the BIOS posts after every cell swap.

Why the Envy 14-EB shows "Poor Battery Health" after a fresh cell install

The HP EC reads health status from EEPROM data carried over from the previous cell, not from live capacity measurements taken on the new one. Until the fuel gauge IC completes a full learn cycle against the replacement cell, the BIOS has no accurate baseline to compare against. This is why the warning appears even when the new cell is functioning correctly. One full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% rewrites that baseline and clears the alert.

Envy 14-EB shutting down at 20–30% charge shown on screen

This happens when the cell cannot hold voltage under the combined load of the CPU and display at higher performance states. The fuel gauge IC predicted remaining capacity based on light-load draw, but under full load the cell voltage drops past the BMS cutoff threshold before the gauge reaches zero. It is not a defective cell — it is an uncalibrated gauge reading a load curve it has not yet learned. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate cycles, then check again; the shutdown floor should stabilise at or below 5%.

Frequently Asked Questions

HP Envy 14-EB is showing the replacement battery as 0% and won't charge — what's happening?

The EC is reading stale EEPROM data from the old cell and hasn't accepted the new one's state-of-charge yet. Plug in the charger, leave it connected for 30 minutes without powering on, then boot into Windows. If the gauge still reads 0%, perform a hard reset — hold the power button for 15 seconds with the charger connected — which forces the EC to re-poll the battery circuit. After that, run a full discharge-to-hibernate cycle and charge back to 100% uninterrupted.

Windows says the battery Wh rating is different from what's printed on the label — is this the wrong battery?

The Wh figure Windows reports comes from the cell's EEPROM, which stores the manufacturer's rated value at factory conditions. The label on the physical cell reflects actual measured capacity at room temperature. A small discrepancy between the two is normal and does not indicate a mismatch. Confirm the OEM part number matches SC04XL, SC04063XL, M08254-1C1, or HSTNN-IB9R — if any of those match, the cell is correct for your board.

New battery in the Envy 14-EB stops charging at 80% and goes no higher — is the cell faulty?

This is almost always a BIOS-controlled charge limit, not a cell fault. HP's firmware includes an adaptive charging mode that caps charge at 80% to reduce long-term cell stress — it activates automatically on some configurations. Open HP Support Assistant, navigate to Battery settings, and check whether "Optimized Battery" or a charge limit option is enabled. Disabling it restores charging to 100%.
