Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

DeLonghi Colombina XLR24LI Series — 25.9V Li-ion Replacement Battery (Colombina 5519210401)
This is a 25.9V Li-ion battery pack rated at 2500mAh (64.75Wh), built to replace the original Colombina 5519210401 in the DeLonghi Colombina XLR24LI and XLR24LI.BL cordless stick vacuums. It fits the same battery bay and uses the same connector orientation as the factory pack. Cell count and voltage match the original power path exactly.
- XLR24LI and XLR24LI.BL compatibility: Both models run the same 25.9V seven-cell Li-ion architecture and share the same BMS handshake protocol. One battery pack covers both variants — no wiring or adapter changes needed.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through the Colombina motor controller under simulated load. The BMS held the voltage rail steady through the motor start draw and cut off cleanly at the low-voltage threshold without tripping mid-cycle.
- Dock charging behaviour on the Colombina: The Colombina charging dock does not cut power once the pack reaches full charge. Remove the vacuum from the dock when the charge is complete — continuous dock charging accelerates cell degradation on this platform faster than most cordless vacuums.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low on the Colombina XLR24LI
This happens when the motor draws more current than rated due to a blocked filter or partial blockage in the airpath. The BMS reads an overcurrent condition and reduces output voltage to protect the cells — the motor slows, suction drops, but the battery indicator still shows charge remaining. The indicator reflects cell voltage, not available current. Clear the filter first, then retest — if suction holds, the battery is not the cause.
Motor cuts out mid-clean and then recovers after a few seconds
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When sustained suction restriction forces the motor to draw above the BMS current limit, the pack shuts output off momentarily to protect the cells. Recovery after a few seconds confirms the BMS reset — the pack itself is functioning correctly. Check the filter and brush roll for blockages before concluding the battery is faulty. A clear airpath keeps draw within the 25.9V pack's rated current envelope.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Colombina XLR24LI loses suction well before the battery light shows low — is the battery failing or is something else causing this?
In most cases this is a restricted airpath, not a worn battery. A blocked filter forces the motor to pull more current than rated, and the BMS drops output voltage to protect the cells — suction falls even though charge remains. The battery indicator reads cell voltage, not available current, so it still shows green. Clean the filter and brush roll, then retest. If suction holds, the battery is not the problem.
My replacement Colombina 5519210401 pack won't charge on the original dock — the charge light doesn't come on at all.
Some Colombina chargers verify a BMS handshake signal before starting the charge cycle. If the replacement pack's BMS doesn't respond within the expected window, the charger stays dark. Try a full insertion — remove the pack, press the release fully, reseat firmly until it clicks, then place on the dock. If the dock light still doesn't activate, measure the pack's resting voltage with a multimeter. A reading below 20V means the cells have discharged past the charger's acceptance threshold and the pack will need a recovery charge from a compatible Li-ion charger before the dock will accept it.
The Colombina battery used to last a full session — now it barely covers one room. The pack is only six months old.
Rapid capacity fade on the Colombina is almost always caused by continuous dock charging. The Colombina dock does not stop charging when the pack is full — it continues to push trickle current through the cells, which degrades capacity significantly faster than charge-and-remove use. Six months of permanent docking is enough to cause noticeable fade. Charge only when the pack is depleted, remove from the dock once the indicator shows full, and store the vacuum off the dock between sessions.
