Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

DeTeWe OpenPhone 21 / Eurix Series — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (NS-3098)
This is a 2.4V, 700mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the DeTeWe OpenPhone 21 and compatible Eurix series cordless handsets. It replaces OEM part numbers NS-3098 and BC101590. When the original pack no longer holds a charge, this restores handset operation without replacing the phone system.
- OpenPhone 21, Eurix Style, Eurix 260, and Eurix 260 Style compatibility: These handsets share the same 2.4V battery rail, connector footprint, and BMS handshake protocol. One pack fits across the range because the charging circuit and cell format are identical across this DeTeWe cordless platform.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on compatible handset hardware. The BMS accepted the NiMH cells without fault, reached full charge voltage cleanly, and the handset registered a full charge indicator within the expected window.
- First-charge conditioning for NiMH cordless packs: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before the first use. NiMH cells in cordless phones need this slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — cutting it short means the first several cycles will run short.
Talk time shorter than rated after replacing the battery
NiMH cordless phone batteries do not reach full rated capacity on cycle one. The electrochemical structure needs three to five full charge-discharge cycles before the cells hit their rated 700mAh. If talk time seems short after the first charge, this is normal — not a fault. Run the handset until the low-battery alert sounds, return it to the base for a full charge, and repeat for at least three cycles.
Base station showing no charge or error light after inserting new battery
NiMH packs lose voltage during storage. If the cell voltage drops far enough, the base station's charging circuit may read the pack as faulty and refuse to charge it. This is a threshold issue, not a battery defect. Place the handset firmly in the cradle and leave it undisturbed for at least two hours — most DeTeWe bases will begin trickle charging below the normal acceptance voltage and recover the pack to a level where normal charging resumes. If the error persists after two hours, reseat the handset and check the contacts on both the handset and cradle are clean and making solid contact.

Frequently Asked Questions
My DeTeWe OpenPhone 21 is draining completely overnight even when it's sitting in the base — is the new battery faulty?
This is almost always a seating issue, not a battery fault. If the handset is not fully clicked into the cradle, the charging contacts do not make consistent connection and the handset runs on battery instead of charging. Check that the handset sits flush and the charge indicator light activates when placed in the base. If the light does not appear, clean the contacts on both the handset and cradle with a dry cloth and reseat firmly.
After swapping the battery on my OpenPhone 21, the handset lost its pairing with the base and won't register — how do I fix this?
Some DECT handsets drop their pairing data when power is fully interrupted during a battery swap. The fix is a manual re-registration: on most DeTeWe bases, hold the registration button on the base unit until the indicator flashes, then navigate to the handset's menu and select register or find base. Refer to the handset manual for the exact key sequence — the process takes under two minutes and does not affect your phone book or settings stored on the base.
The range on my OpenPhone 21 seems shorter than it was before — could the replacement battery be causing this?
Yes, this is a real effect with NiMH packs that have not completed their conditioning cycles. The handset's DECT transmitter draws a short burst of higher current during each radio pulse, and a partially conditioned NiMH cell lets voltage sag under that RF load. The base interprets the weaker signal as distance. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles and the cell's internal resistance will drop, reducing voltage sag. If range is still reduced after five cycles, check the battery contacts are clean and the voltage at full charge reads at or above 2.4V.
