Fits Ecoh M-288 cordless vacuum cleaners with original part compatibility verified across all dock-charge models.
14.4V, 4000mAh capacity sustains motor torque on carpet and hard floors without early voltage sag under full suction load.
Connector slides straight into dock with positive-left orientation; locking tab seats flush with housing, no forcing required.
Bench testing showed BMS accepts full charge within six hours on standard dock charger with stable cell voltage confirmation at 14.4V nominal.
Do not leave this Ni-MH pack on the charging dock continuously after reaching full charge — trickle charging degrades capacity faster than removal and on-demand recharge cycles.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Ecoh M-288 — 14.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 14.4V, 4000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Ecoh M-288 cordless vacuum cleaner. It fits directly into the M-288 handheld unit and restores suction power to a vacuum whose original cell has degraded. Capacity is rated at 57.6Wh and chemistry is Ni-MH, matching the original specification.

  • M-288 platform fit: The M-288 runs a 14.4V Ni-MH cell with a fixed connector orientation and BMS voltage threshold tuned to that chemistry. Swapping to a matched Ni-MH cell at the same voltage keeps the motor controller and charge circuit operating within their expected range.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through repeated load draws simulating carpet and hard-floor suction modes. The BMS held cutoff at the correct low-voltage threshold and recovered cleanly on charge without false trips.
  • Dock charging behaviour on the M-288: Do not leave the M-288 sitting on the charging dock indefinitely between uses. Continuous trickle charge accelerates capacity fade in Ni-MH cells faster than in lithium chemistries. Charge to full, then remove from the dock.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

Ni-MH cells show a steeper voltage sag curve under load than the indicator LED is calibrated to track. When the motor draws higher current — through thick carpet or a partially blocked filter — terminal voltage drops faster than the indicator responds. The vacuum loses usable suction while the indicator still reads mid-charge. Clean the filter first; if sag persists, the cell's internal resistance has risen and replacement is the correct fix.

Motor cuts out mid-clean then restarts after a few seconds

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a mechanical fault. Restricted airflow — usually a blocked filter or full dust cup — forces the motor to draw sustained current above the BMS threshold. The BMS cuts power to protect the cell, then resets once current demand drops. Clear the filter and empty the dust cup; if the cutout continues on an unobstructed unit, check that terminal voltage under load stays above 12V.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my Ecoh M-288 lose suction halfway through vacuuming even though the battery light still looks fine?

The battery indicator on the M-288 responds to resting voltage, not load voltage. Under sustained motor draw — especially on carpet — the Ni-MH cell's terminal voltage sags faster than the indicator tracks, and suction drops before the light catches up. Check and clean the filter first, since restricted airflow amplifies the draw and worsens the sag. If the filter is clear and the problem persists, internal resistance in the cell has risen and a replacement cell is the fix.

My M-288 cuts out for a few seconds during use, then comes back on — what's causing that?

That cycling behaviour is the BMS tripping on an overcurrent event, not a faulty motor. A clogged filter or full dust cup forces the motor to sustain a higher current draw than the BMS allows, so it cuts power and resets once demand drops. Empty the dust cup and wash or replace the filter, then run the vacuum again. If the trip still happens on a clear airway, measure terminal voltage under load — it should stay above 12V; anything lower points to a degraded cell.

The Ecoh M-288 battery fades noticeably after just a few months — is something wrong with the cell?

Ni-MH cells degrade significantly faster when left on a continuous trickle charge, which is exactly what happens when the M-288 sits on its dock between every use. Unlike lithium chemistry, Ni-MH does not tolerate indefinite float charging. Charge the battery to full, then remove the vacuum from the dock and store it off-charge. Following that routine from the first cycle on a new cell will maintain capacity far longer than dock-parking between cleans.
