Fits Robotic Smart Vacuum Cleaner M-288, replaces OEM battery pack for this model.
14.4V, 4000mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers sustained voltage for motor and navigation under carpet load.
Connector seats vertically into dock port with spring-clip locking tab; verify alignment before insertion.
Bench testing showed stable voltage delivery under sustained suction draw with no premature cutoff events.
Do not leave the vacuum on the charging dock permanently — continuous trickle charge degrades Ni-MH capacity significantly faster than charge-and-remove cycles.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Robotic Smart Vacuum Cleaner M-288 — 14.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 14.4V, 4000mAh (57.6Wh) Ni-MH replacement battery for the Robotic Smart Vacuum Cleaner M-288. It powers the drive motors, suction fan, and onboard navigation system. When the original cell loses capacity after repeated charge cycles, this unit restores cleaning performance to factory levels.

  • M-288 platform fit: The M-288 runs a 14.4V drive rail shared across its motor and navigation board. Any replacement cell must match this voltage exactly — under-voltage causes navigation errors before suction even drops.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through full discharge under simulated carpet-load draw. The BMS held steady across sustained high-current pulls and cut off cleanly at the low-voltage threshold without false trips.
  • Dock charging on the M-288: Do not leave the M-288 sitting on the dock permanently between uses. Ni-MH cells in continuous trickle charge develop capacity fade faster than those charged only when depleted. Charge to full, then remove from the dock.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator shows low on the M-288

Ni-MH cells under load show voltage sag before they hit the BMS low-voltage cutoff. On the M-288, the suction fan motor draws harder than the navigation board, so it feels the sag first. A partially blocked filter makes this worse — the motor compensates with higher current, accelerating the voltage drop. Clean the filter and check that the dustbin is empty before concluding the battery is the cause.

M-288 motor cuts out mid-cycle then recovers after a few seconds

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a battery failure. When suction is restricted — blocked filter, tangled brush roll, or dense carpet pile — the motor draws sustained current above the BMS threshold and the pack disconnects to protect itself. The BMS resets after a short thermal pause, which is why the unit recovers and carries on. Clear the obstruction, then restart the cycle. If it trips again on open floor with a clean filter, the cell itself may be fatigued and holding insufficient charge to meet motor-start current demand.

Frequently Asked Questions

The M-288 suction feels weak almost immediately after a full charge — why does it drop so fast?

A clogged filter forces the motor to draw more current than rated, which collapses the cell voltage under load faster than normal. The battery indicator reads the pack voltage at rest, not under load, so it still shows green while suction is already suffering. Remove and tap out the filter, clear the brush roll of hair, and run another cycle. If suction holds longer after that, the battery was fine — the restriction was the cause.

My M-288 has been sitting on the dock every day for months and now barely cleans one room — is the battery dead?

Continuous dock charging is the most common cause of early capacity fade in Ni-MH vacuum batteries. The trickle current from the dock stresses the cells daily, and capacity shrinks steadily over weeks. A replacement cell will restore performance, but the same damage will return if the dock habit continues. Charge to full, remove the vacuum from the dock, and only return it when the battery is depleted.

The M-288 powers on but shuts off after crossing from hard floor onto thick carpet — what causes that?

Thick carpet increases brush-roll resistance sharply, spiking the motor's current draw at the transition point. If the cell is aged or partially discharged, it cannot deliver the burst current needed and the BMS trips to prevent damage. The unit shuts down, the BMS resets, and it may restart normally on a flat surface. Charge the battery fully before testing again — if the cutout still happens on a fresh charge, the cell no longer holds enough capacity to meet motor-start demand and needs replacement.
