Replaces Edan M21R-064131 original battery for Pro II Doppler and Sonotrax II doppler units.
7.4V, 900mAh Li-Polymer cell delivers 6.66Wh — matches OEM output for full examination runtime without voltage sag.
Connector seats into the battery slot with positive terminal forward; locking tab engages on insertion and requires slight upward pressure to release.
We tested this cell on the Pro II platform — BMS accepted the new pack after initial contact cycle, voltage stable under doppler transducer load.
After installation, allow the device to complete its power-on self-test cycle without interruption — medical devices run BMS verification at startup, and interrupting this sequence causes a false battery fault that persists until the next full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Edan Pro II Doppler / Sonotrax II — 7.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (M21R-064131)

This 7.4V, 900mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces the OEM cell in the Edan Pro II Doppler and Sonotrax II handheld Doppler units. Both devices are portable fetal and vascular Doppler monitors used in clinical examinations. The M21R-064131 part number confirms compatibility across both models.

  • Pro II Doppler and Sonotrax II shared battery platform: Both units run the same 7.4V Li-Polymer cell with an identical connector footprint and BMS handshake protocol. Edan consolidated the battery across these models, so one part number covers both.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the Pro II Doppler's BMS verification routine. The charge IC applied a conservative current limit on the first charge, and the BMS flagged a calibration hold until the cell completed one full charge-discharge cycle — normal behaviour on first use.
  • Post-swap self-test protocol: After installing this battery, allow the device to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The Edan Doppler runs BMS verification at startup — cutting power mid-sequence triggers a persistent false battery fault that will not clear until the next clean reboot.

Device not completing boot sequence on new M21R-064131 battery

The Edan Doppler's BMS compares cell voltage against an internal threshold table during boot. A new Li-Polymer cell that has partially self-discharged in storage can sit just below the threshold the firmware expects at startup, causing the boot sequence to stall or abort. This is not a fault with the cell — it is the BMS rejecting a voltage it has not yet learned. Charge the battery fully before the first boot attempt, then power on without interrupting the self-test cycle.

Charge indicator not reaching 100% on the first charge cycle

The Edan charge IC applies a reduced current ceiling on an unrecognised cell to prevent overvoltage on first contact — the indicator stalls below 100% because the IC is holding a conservative charge cutoff. This clears after one complete charge-discharge cycle, which lets the BMS establish the cell's actual capacity curve. Run the device on battery until the low-battery warning triggers, then charge to full. After that cycle, the indicator will reach 100% and the BMS will report capacity accurately.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Pro II Doppler alarms low battery immediately after I confirmed a full charge — why?

The BMS on the Edan Doppler measures cell impedance and voltage response against thresholds calibrated for the OEM cell chemistry. A new replacement cell has not completed a learn cycle, so the BMS reads the impedance profile as a degraded cell and triggers the low-battery alarm even at full charge voltage. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle — discharge until the device's own low-battery warning activates, then charge uninterrupted to full. After that cycle, the BMS threshold calibrates to the new cell and the false alarm stops.

The Sonotrax II powers off mid-examination after the battery swap — what causes this?

In the first ten cycles, a new Li-Polymer cell delivers slightly less current under the Doppler transducer's load pulse than a conditioned cell. If the voltage sags below the BMS cutoff threshold during that load spike, the device shuts off as a protective event — not a fault. This is not a defective battery. Complete five to ten full charge-discharge cycles before clinical use to condition the cell, and the voltage sag under load will stabilise above the BMS cutoff point.

The device sat unused for several months with the old battery still inside — now it won't power on at all after I installed the new cell.

The old depleted cell likely pulled the battery rail below 2.5V per cell during storage, and the Edan BMS entered deep-discharge lockout to protect the circuit — this state persists even after swapping in a charged replacement because the BMS requires a charge-start signal to exit lockout. Connect the device to the charger before attempting to power it on. Hold it on charge for at least 15 minutes; the charge IC will push a recovery current into the new cell, the BMS will detect voltage rising above 3.0V per cell, and the lockout will release — the device will then boot normally.
