This is a 3.7V 2600mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Somno Medics SomnoScreen type SSC051 portable sleep apnea screening device. It replaces OEM part number 110686-O. The SomnoScreen SSC051 is a diagnostic monitor used by clinicians and patients during extended overnight sleep studies.
- SSC051 platform fit: The SSC051 uses a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion architecture with a BMS handshake at power-on. This cell matches the voltage rail and connector pinout for that handshake to complete correctly.

Charge indicator not reaching 100% on the first charge after a swap
On the first charge cycle, the SSC051's charge IC applies a conservative current limit to an unrecognised cell. This is normal behaviour — the device is measuring internal resistance before committing to a full top-up. The indicator typically stalls between 90–98% on the first pass. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle and the charge IC recalibrates; subsequent charges reach 100%.
Device fails self-test and flags a battery fault after swap
The SSC051 runs a BMS learn cycle at first use. A new cell that hasn't completed one full charge-discharge pass carries no cycle history, and the device interprets this as a fault condition. This is not a defective battery — it is an uninitialised cell. Charge to full, run the device until it powers down on low battery, then recharge fully. The BMS threshold on the SSC051 is calibrated to the OEM cell's chemistry signature. A new replacement cell hasn't completed a learn cycle, so the BMS flags it as low even when voltage is correct. Run one full charge-discharge cycle on the device before clinical use. After that cycle, the alarm clears and the battery reports accurately.
The SSC051 won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat unused for several months — is it dead?
Extended storage allows a Li-ion cell to self-discharge below the SSC051's BMS recovery threshold, typically around 2.5V. At that point the BMS locks out the cell and the device won't boot. Connect the charger and leave it for at least two hours without attempting to power on — the charge IC will trickle-charge the cell back above the recovery threshold. Once voltage climbs above 3.0V, the BMS re-initialises and the device boots normally.
The SomnoScreen SSC051 shuts off unexpectedly during a monitoring session, but the battery showed adequate charge before starting — what's causing this?
New Li-ion cells have higher internal resistance in the first 10 cycles, which causes voltage sag under the sustained load of an active monitoring session. The SSC051's undervoltage cutoff triggers on the sag, not the resting voltage — so the pre-session charge reading looks fine but the cell can't hold the rail under load. Complete five to ten full charge-discharge cycles on the device before using it in an active clinical session. Internal resistance drops significantly after those initial cycles and the premature cutoff stops occurring.
