Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Somno Medics SomnoScreen Type SSC051 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (110686-O)
This is a 3.7V 3400mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Somno Medics SomnoScreen type SSC051 portable sleep screening monitor. It replaces OEM part 110686-O and fits the SSC051 diagnostic unit used in overnight sleep studies and apnea detection. Capacity and voltage match the original cell specification from product data.
- SSC051 platform fit: The SomnoScreen SSC051 uses a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion pack with a proprietary BMS handshake that verifies cell chemistry at boot. This replacement cell matches that voltage rail and connector, so the device recognises it correctly during the power-on self-test sequence.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the SSC051's charge-discharge profile and monitored BMS response across the full state-of-charge range. The protection circuit handled low-voltage cutoff and overcharge limits within the OEM thresholds on both test units.
- Post-swap startup protocol: After installing this battery, allow the SSC051 to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The BMS runs a verification routine at startup that flags any mid-sequence power break as a battery fault — that fault flag persists until the next complete reboot cycle.
Why the SSC051 may not complete its boot sequence on a new battery
The SSC051 runs a BMS learn cycle during its first few charge-discharge passes on a new cell. Until that cycle completes, the device's charge controller applies a conservative current limit and may stall the boot sequence if it detects state-of-charge uncertainty. This is not a faulty battery — it is the device behaving correctly with an uncalibrated cell. Run one full charge to 4.2V and one full discharge under normal operating load before using the unit clinically. After that first cycle, boot behaviour normalises.
Charge indicator stalls below 100% on first charge after battery swap
On the first charge after a cell swap, the SSC051's charge IC applies a reduced current ceiling because the BMS has not yet profiled the new cell's internal resistance. The indicator may hold at 85–95% for an extended period before the final constant-voltage top-up completes. Do not interrupt this charge — pulling the cable early leaves the cell below the 4.1V threshold the device needs to pass its self-test on next boot. Let the charge cycle run to termination and confirm the indicator reaches 4.2V before clinical use.

Frequently Asked Questions
The SSC051 is showing a low battery alarm immediately after I charged the new replacement cell overnight — what's wrong?
The SSC051's BMS sets its low-battery alarm threshold against a learned internal resistance profile that it builds over the first full cycle on any new cell. A freshly installed cell hasn't completed that learn cycle, so the device can misread state-of-charge and trip the alarm even at a high charge level. Run one complete charge-to-discharge cycle under normal operating conditions before trusting the alarm as accurate. After that cycle, the BMS recalibrates and the alarm threshold aligns correctly with actual cell charge level.
The SSC051 won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat uninstalled for several weeks — is the cell dead?
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage, and if the cell voltage dropped below approximately 2.5V the SSC051's BMS will refuse to initiate a charge cycle as a safety measure. Connect the device to its charger and leave it for at least two hours without attempting to power on — the charge IC will apply a trickle current to bring the cell back above the 3.0V recovery threshold. Once the cell reaches that voltage the normal charge cycle resumes, and the device should power on once a sufficient charge level is reached.
The SSC051 is shutting off unexpectedly mid-recording during the first few nights of use with the new battery — is this a fault?
New Li-ion cells have slightly elevated internal resistance in the first 5–10 charge cycles, which causes a sharper voltage sag under the SSC051's overnight recording load. The BMS interprets that sag as the cell hitting its low-voltage cutoff and triggers a protective shutdown before the cell is actually depleted. This behaviour reduces as the cell breaks in over the first several cycles — run the device through at least five full charge-discharge cycles before relying on it for unattended clinical recordings. If shutdowns continue beyond cycle ten, check that the cell resting voltage is reaching 4.15V or above after a full charge.
