Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Elxteu Best Lighting Emergency Exit Sign — 3.6V Ni-CD Replacement Battery (3xAA)
This is a 3.6V, 800mAh Ni-CD battery pack for the Best Lighting Emergency Exit Sign. It slots into the fitting to restore backup illumination when mains power fails. Without a functional battery, the sign cannot meet emergency lighting compliance requirements.
- Best Lighting Exit Sign fitment: This pack matches the 3xAA cell configuration used in these fittings. The voltage rail, cell count, and connector geometry align with the original charge controller circuit — the controller expects exactly 3.6V nominal from a three-cell Ni-CD string.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through a full charge cycle and a load test simulating mains-failure activation. The BMS accepted the charge without fault and the pack held voltage under load through the test duration.
- First-cycle test procedure: Within 24 hours of installation, hold the test button for the full rated duration. This confirms the new cell accepts load and lets the charge controller register cell capacity before your next scheduled compliance inspection.
Emergency light failing its duration test after battery replacement
A new Ni-CD cell shipped from storage typically holds a partial charge — not a full one. On first activation, the pack may not deliver its rated 800mAh because the cells have not yet completed a conditioning cycle. The charge controller needs at least one full charge-discharge sequence to calibrate to the new cell capacity. Run a manual test cycle immediately after installation, then allow a full 24-hour charge before the compliance test.
Charge indicator staying red after new battery installation
Storage discharge can drop cell voltage below the float acceptance window the charge controller monitors on startup. If the controller sees voltage outside that window, it flags a fault rather than entering normal charge mode. Connect the fitting to mains and leave it for up to 12 hours — a slow trickle will bring the cells into the acceptance window and the indicator should shift to green. If it stays red past 12 hours, check the connector seating and verify polarity against the original cell orientation.

Frequently Asked Questions
The exit sign passed its test before I swapped the battery, but now it cuts out early — did I get a bad cell?
Almost certainly not. A new Ni-CD cell fresh from storage has not been through a full charge-discharge cycle, so its usable capacity on the first activation is lower than rated. The cell needs one complete cycle before it delivers the full 800mAh. Charge the fitting on mains for a full 24 hours, then run another manual duration test — the result should match the rated period.
The fitting's fault LED is still on even though the new battery is seated correctly — what's wrong?
Some Best Lighting fittings latch a fault condition in the controller and do not clear it automatically when a new cell is installed. The controller needs a manual reset: disconnect mains power, wait 30 seconds, then reconnect. If the fault LED clears within a minute of reconnection, the controller has accepted the new pack. If it does not clear, confirm the pack voltage is above 3.0V before reinstalling — a deeply discharged cell can prevent the controller from exiting fault mode.
The light dims noticeably after a few minutes during the test even though I just installed the replacement — is the fitting drawing too much current?
Dimming during an early test is a cell conditioning issue, not a fitting fault. The charge controller trickle-charges a new Ni-CD pack, but until the cells have completed at least one full cycle, internal resistance is higher than normal and voltage sags under load. Leave the fitting on mains charge for 24 hours after installation, then repeat the test. If dimming persists after a full conditioning cycle, measure open-circuit voltage across the pack terminals — it should read at least 3.6V before the test begins.
