Fits Emporia Active Glam and Active Glam 4G phones, replaces OEM part number AK-V221.
This 3.7V 900mAh Li-ion cell restores full capacity on the Emporia platform after degradation from repeated charge cycles.
Connector seats flat into the battery slot with a single locking tab; orient the contacts toward the device terminal.
We ran discharge curves on a fresh AK-V221 — the BMS accepted input on first insertion without fault codes.
On first use after installation, run one complete discharge-charge cycle with fast charging disabled to let the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell curve before high-current charging resumes.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Emporia Active Glam — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (AK-V221)

This is a 3.7V, 900mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Emporia Active Glam and Active Glam 4G smartphones. It replaces OEM part numbers AK-V221 and AK-V221-4G. The cell fits the compact housing used across the V221 and V221 4G variants of this device.

  • Active Glam and Active Glam 4G compatibility: Both the standard and 4G variants share the same battery bay dimensions (53.50 × 40.00 × 5.00mm), connector pin-out, and BMS handshake requirements — one cell covers both boards.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on the Active Glam 4G board and confirmed the BMS accepted charge at the correct 4.2V cutoff, with protection circuits tripping correctly on over-discharge below 2.75V.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After installation, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-to-charge cycle before normal use. The fuel gauge IC on this phone calibrates its discharge curve on the first full cycle — skipping this step causes the percentage counter to jump erratically during the first week.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Active Glam after a cell swap

This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still running the discharge curve it mapped to the old, degraded cell. A fresh 900mAh cell has a steeper voltage cliff than a worn one, so the phone hits a voltage the IC interprets as empty before the actual charge is gone. The fix is a single full discharge-charge cycle with no interruptions. After that cycle, the coulomb counter re-anchors to the new cell's curve and the shutdowns stop.

Phone won't power on after the replacement battery sat in storage

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage, and if the cell drops below approximately 2.5V the BMS enters lockout mode to prevent damage — the phone will show nothing when you press the power button. Connect the phone to a wall charger (not a PC USB port) and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing anything. The charge IC trickle-charges the cell back above the BMS re-enable threshold, after which the phone boots normally. If the charge indicator never appears after 45 minutes, the cell has dropped below the recovery floor and needs replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Active Glam battery percentage jumps around erratically after I put in the new battery — is something wrong with the replacement cell?

Nothing is wrong with the cell. The fuel gauge IC on the Active Glam was calibrated to the discharge curve of the old, worn battery, and it hasn't yet mapped the new 900mAh cell's behaviour. Run one complete discharge — use the phone until it shuts itself off — then charge it to 100% without interruption. After that single cycle the coulomb counter re-anchors to the new curve and the percentage readings stabilise.

My Active Glam gets noticeably warm near the battery for the first few charges after swapping the cell — should I be concerned?

Mild warmth on the first few charge cycles is normal with a new high-impedance cell. The charge IC works harder to push current into a fresh cell until the internal resistance settles after a few cycles. If the phone stays warm throughout a full charge rather than cooling off in the final 20%, that points to a charge IC fault on the board itself, not the battery. Check that the charging port is clean and that you're using a 5V/1A charger rather than a high-output fast charger for the first two cycles.

Fast charging stopped working after I replaced the battery on my Active Glam 4G — it only charges slowly now.

The Active Glam 4G's charging protocol negotiation resets when the battery is disconnected. On the first charge cycle after a cell swap, the BMS and charge IC exchange handshake data at standard 5V/1A before the device re-enables higher charge rates. Charge the phone fully once at the slow rate without unplugging it mid-cycle. On the second charge, fast charging should resume — if it doesn't, check that the replacement cell's BMS is accepting the full 4.2V charge cutoff, which you can confirm by watching the charge indicator LED switch from charging to full without the phone cutting off early.
