Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Emporia Elegance Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (AK-V36)

This is a 3.7V, 1100mAh Li-ion cell for the Emporia Elegance, Elegance Premium, ElegancePlus, and Elegance weib. It replaces OEM part numbers AK-V35, AK-V36, AK-V37, and AK-V38. If the original cell no longer holds a charge or the phone shuts off unexpectedly, this cell restores full operation including calls, SMS, and the emergency call button.

  • Elegance series compatibility: All models in this lineup share the same battery bay dimensions (56.00 × 35.60 × 5.25mm), connector pinout, and 3.7V nominal voltage rail. The AK-V36 footprint covers all four OEM part numbers without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the Elegance platform. The BMS communicated correctly with the charge IC, protection thresholds triggered at the expected voltage limits, and the fuel gauge IC tracked state-of-charge without error flags after the first full cycle.
  • First-cycle fuel gauge reset: After fitting this cell, run one complete discharge to low battery warning, then charge uninterrupted to 100% before normal use. This gives the fuel gauge IC a full reference curve for the new cell and prevents erratic percentage readings in the first few days.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Emporia Elegance after a cell swap

A new cell has a slightly different internal resistance profile than the depleted cell the fuel gauge IC was calibrated against. When the modem fires during a call or the screen backlight draws a short spike, the phone's charge IC sees a voltage dip that crosses the low-voltage cutoff threshold — even though the display still shows 20–30%. The BMS cuts output to protect the cell, and the phone drops without warning. One full discharge-to-charge cycle recalibrates the coulomb counter and eliminates most of these false cutoffs.

Phone not powering on after the replacement cell sat in storage

Li-ion cells lose charge during storage. If this cell sat long enough to drop below approximately 2.5V, the BMS enters a lockout state and blocks current flow to protect the cell from damage. The phone will show nothing — no boot screen, no charge indicator — when you first press power. Connect the phone to a wall charger, not a PC USB port, and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing anything. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell until voltage climbs above the BMS re-enable threshold, typically around 2.9V, at which point normal charging resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Emporia Elegance shows 25% battery and then cuts off dead — why does this keep happening with the new cell?

The fuel gauge IC is still using the discharge curve it learned from the old, worn cell. When the phone hits a brief current spike — modem transmitting during a call, for example — voltage sags faster than the uncalibrated counter expects, and the BMS trips the low-voltage cutoff. Run one uninterrupted discharge down to the low-battery warning, then charge to 100% in a single session. After that cycle, the coulomb counter recalibrates to the new cell's actual discharge curve and the false shutdowns stop.

The battery percentage on my Emporia Elegance is jumping around — it went from 60% to 45% in two minutes without a call or anything running.

The fuel gauge IC recalibrates continuously against a reference curve stored from the previous cell. A new 1100mAh cell has a different internal resistance and discharge slope, so the IC's state-of-charge estimates drift until it builds a new reference. The erratic jumps are the counter correcting itself in real time. Complete two full discharge-charge cycles — no partial top-ups — and the readings will stabilise as the IC locks onto the new cell's actual voltage-to-capacity relationship.

My Emporia Elegance won't charge past about 80% since I put in the replacement battery — the charge indicator just stops.

On the first cycle after a cell swap, some charge ICs apply a conservative termination voltage while the BMS and fuel gauge IC negotiate the new cell's internal resistance. This can cause charging to stop early — the IC interprets the higher impedance of a fresh cell as a near-full state. Discharge the phone to the low-battery warning, then plug into a wall adapter rated at 5V/1A or higher and leave it to charge without interruption. The charge IC will complete a full charge termination cycle against the actual cell and the 80% cutoff behaviour typically clears after one or two cycles.
