Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Emporia Elson EL350 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BTY26169)
This 3.7V, 1050mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original BTY26169 battery in the Emporia Elson EL350 and EL350 Dual, including Mobistel-branded variants of both models. It measures 54.60 × 34.00 × 5.50mm and slots directly into the same battery bay. Capacity matches the factory spec at 3.89Wh — no modifications needed.
- EL350 and EL350 Dual compatibility: Both the single-SIM and Dual-SIM versions of this phone use the same battery bay dimensions, voltage rail, and connector pinout. One cell fits all four variants — Elson and Mobistel badging share the same hardware platform.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the EL350 platform. The BMS accepted the charge current without tripping, voltage held steady across the discharge curve, and the protection circuit cut off cleanly at the low-voltage threshold.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this cell, run one full discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% before use. The EL350's fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the worn-out original cell — skipping this cycle causes the percentage display to read inaccurately from the first charge.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Elson EL350
This is the most common complaint on EL350 units with a degraded original cell. As the cell ages, its internal resistance rises. When the modem transmits or the screen brightens, current draw spikes and the cell voltage drops sharply — past the BMS cutoff threshold — even though the fuel gauge still shows charge remaining. A fresh cell with lower internal resistance holds voltage under that same load spike. If the shutdown persists after fitting a new cell, run one full calibration cycle to let the fuel gauge IC re-anchor its voltage-to-percentage mapping to the new cell's discharge curve.
Phone won't power on after the battery sat in storage
Li-ion cells left unused for several months can self-discharge below 2.5V per cell. At that level, the BMS enters lockout mode to prevent damage — the phone shows nothing when you press the power button. Connect the EL350 to a charger and leave it for 15–20 minutes without pressing any buttons; the charge IC applies a low-current trickle to bring the cell back above the BMS recovery threshold. Once the screen shows a charging indicator, the BMS has re-initialised and normal charging resumes. If no indicator appears after 30 minutes, the cell has discharged too deeply to recover and needs replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions
The battery percentage on my Elson EL350 jumps around and doesn't match how much charge is actually left — what's causing that?
The fuel gauge IC in the EL350 stores a learned discharge curve from the old cell. When you fit a new cell with a different impedance profile, those stored reference points no longer match the actual voltage behaviour, so the percentage reading becomes erratic. Run one full uninterrupted discharge to automatic shutdown, then charge straight to 100% without interruption. After that single cycle the fuel gauge re-anchors its coulomb counter to the new cell and the percentage stabilises.
My EL350 gets noticeably warm near the battery compartment during the first few charges after fitting the replacement — is that normal?
A new Li-ion cell has higher impedance than a broken-in cell. On the first few charge cycles, the charge IC pushes current into that higher resistance, which generates more heat than you'd see once the cell has been through a few cycles. The warmth should reduce noticeably after two or three full charge cycles. If the phone stays uncomfortably hot or cuts charging short after the third cycle, check that the battery contacts are seated flat against the terminals — a partial connection forces the charge IC to work harder.
After fitting the new BTY26169, my Elson EL350 won't charge past about 80% — why is it stopping early?
On the first cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC sometimes interprets the new cell's voltage curve as "full" at a lower threshold because its termination logic was calibrated to the old degraded cell. Drain the phone fully to automatic shutdown in one sitting, then plug in and charge to 100% without unplugging mid-way. This resets the charge termination reference point. After that first complete cycle the charge IC should accept a full charge to the 4.2V cell ceiling.
