Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Emporia One / V200 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (AK-V200)
The AK-V200 is a 3.7V Li-ion cell rated at 800mAh (2.96Wh) that fits the Emporia One, V200, and V200_001_SG smartphones. It replaces the original battery when the phone no longer holds a charge or fails to power on. This cell matches the original's footprint at 44.50 × 40.00 × 5.30mm, so it seats without modification.
- One, V200, and V200_001_SG compatibility: These three model designations share the same PCB layout, connector pitch, and BMS handshake protocol — the AK-V200 part number covers all three without any adapter or modification to the flex connector.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a V200 unit. The BMS accepted the cell without a protection trip, and the charge IC reached full termination voltage cleanly on the first cycle.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this cell, run one complete discharge down to automatic shutdown — do not interrupt it — then charge to 100% uninterrupted. This gives the fuel gauge IC one full reference cycle against the new cell's discharge curve before the OS starts reading percentage.
Why the Emporia One reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The fuel gauge IC on the V200 board tracks charge state using a coulomb counter calibrated to the original cell's internal resistance and discharge curve. A new cell has a different impedance profile, so the counter starts reporting against the wrong baseline. The OS reads these figures and displays a percentage that does not match actual charge. One uninterrupted full discharge-to-shutdown followed by a full charge resets the counter to the new cell's curve and corrects the display.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% remaining on the replacement cell
This happens when the modem or display pulls a current spike that drops cell voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold — even though the reported percentage still looks healthy. On a freshly installed cell, the fuel gauge IC has not yet mapped where the voltage cliff sits for this specific cell, so the BMS trips before the counter expected it. Run one full calibration cycle first. If shutdowns continue after calibration, check that the connector is fully seated — a partial connection raises contact resistance and amplifies voltage sag under load, triggering cutoff earlier than the spec voltage of 3.0V per cell.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Emporia One won't turn on at all after I fitted the new AK-V200 — did something go wrong during install?
If the phone sat in a drawer for months before the swap, the new cell may have also self-discharged below the BMS lockout threshold of around 2.5V during storage. Connect the phone to a charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button — the charge IC needs time to trickle-feed the cell back above the BMS recovery threshold before the phone will respond. If the screen shows a low-battery icon during this period, the BMS is recovering normally. If nothing appears after 45 minutes, reseat the battery connector and confirm the flex cable is fully clicked down.
The Emporia One percentage jumps around erratically — it reads 60%, then suddenly drops to 15% and back up again.
The coulomb counter inside the fuel gauge IC is recalibrating against the new cell's discharge curve, and it hasn't completed a full reference cycle yet. Until it does, the percentage readout will be unstable. Run one complete discharge — let the phone shut itself off naturally — then charge to 100% without interruption. After that single cycle the fuel gauge IC locks onto the new cell's profile and the percentage stabilises. Do not rely on the percentage figure for the first two or three cycles after fitting.
Fast charging has stopped working since I replaced the battery on my V200 — it only slow-charges now.
On the first cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC on the V200 often falls back to standard 5V charging because the new BMS has not yet completed a handshake with the phone's USB negotiation logic. This is a single-cycle behaviour. Let the phone complete one full slow charge to 100%, then disconnect and reconnect the charger — the USB-PD negotiation runs again from scratch and fast charge typically resumes. If fast charging still does not engage after the second charge attempt, check that the replacement cell's connector orientation is correct, as a reversed cell will prevent proper BMS communication.
