Fits Emporia Smart and Smart 1 phones, replacing OEM battery AK-S1 and AK-S1(V1.0).
Rated 3.8V at 2600mAh — supplies 9.88Wh total energy for full daily standby and call time.
Connector slots vertically into the battery bay with flat gold contacts; no locking tab.
We bench-tested the cell on a Smart 1 unit — BMS accepted charge at first insertion, fuel gauge IC read zero percent until first full cycle completed.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle to let the coulomb counter recalibrate against the new cell curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Emporia Smart / Smart 1 — 3.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (AK-S1)

This is a 3.8V, 2600mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Emporia Smart and Smart 1 smartphones. It uses OEM part numbers AK-S1 and AK-S1(V1.0). If the original cell is swelling, failing to hold charge, or causing unexpected shutdowns, this is the direct swap.

  • Smart and Smart 1 fitment: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions and BMS connector pinout. At 64.66 × 56.99 × 5.25 mm, the cell seats flush against the frame contacts without adapter plates or cable modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Smart platform. The BMS accepted the charge IC handshake without fault codes, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at low-voltage cutoff — no thermal events during the test cycle.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration after install: On first use, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-to-charge cycle before switching fast charge back on. The fuel gauge IC calibrates its coulomb counter against the new cell's discharge curve on that first cycle — skipping it can cause erratic percentage readings for several days.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Emporia Smart after a cell swap

A new cell has a slightly different voltage-versus-capacity curve than the original. The phone's fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the old cell, so it reads voltage drop incorrectly and does not see the cliff coming. Under modem or screen load, the cell voltage dips sharply below 3.4V before the OS expects it, triggering an emergency shutdown. One complete discharge-to-charge cycle resets the coulomb counter and maps the new curve, after which the phone should report percentage accurately down to around 3.2V under load.

Phone will not power on after the replacement battery sat in storage

Li-ion cells in storage self-discharge over weeks. If the cell drops below 2.5V per cell, the BMS enters a lockout state to prevent damage — the phone shows nothing on screen and does not respond to the power button. Connect a charger rated at least 5V 1A and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing anything. The BMS needs a trickle current to recover enough voltage to unlock before normal charging resumes. If the charge indicator still does not appear after 30 minutes, try a second charger to rule out a cable or adapter fault.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my Emporia Smart show 25% and then shut off without warning after fitting the new battery?

The fuel gauge IC stored the old cell's discharge curve and does not know the new cell's voltage behaviour yet. When modem or screen load pulls current, the new cell's voltage drops faster than the IC expects at that percentage, hitting the emergency cutoff before the gauge catches up. Run one full discharge from 100% down to automatic shutdown, then charge to 100% without interruption — this resets the coulomb counter against the new cell. After that cycle, shutdowns before 10% should stop.

Fast charging stopped working the first time I plugged in the phone after replacing the battery — is something wrong?

This is normal on the first charge cycle with a replacement cell. The charge IC re-negotiates the fast-charge protocol with the new BMS, and some controllers default to standard 5V charging until the handshake completes after one full cycle. Charge the phone to 100% on standard charge, let it discharge normally, then recharge — fast charging typically resumes from the second cycle onward. If it still does not engage after two full cycles, check that the charger cable supports the required protocol, not just the wattage rating.

The phone feels noticeably warm near the battery during the first few charges after the swap — is that a fault?

A new cell starts with higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, so the charge IC pushes current into slightly more resistance than it did before — that generates more heat in the early cycles. We measured surface temperature during bench testing and it stayed within safe operating range throughout. The warmth should reduce after three to five charge cycles as the cell's impedance settles. If the back of the phone becomes hot to the touch rather than just warm, remove it from the charger and check that the battery connector is fully seated.
