Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Active — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (EB-BG890ABA)

This is a 3500mAh Li-Polymer battery for the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active and S6 Active LTE-A (SM-G890, SM-G890A). It replaces OEM part EB-BG890ABA directly. Rated at 3.85V nominal and 13.48Wh total energy.

  • SM-G890 and SM-G890A fit: Both variants share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The EB-BG890ABA spec covers both SKUs — no hardware differences affect this battery swap.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on an SM-G890A and confirmed BMS communication, charge acceptance across all stages, and fuel gauge IC readout stability after one full discharge cycle.
  • First-cycle fast charge calibration: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the S6 Active after a cell swap

This happens when the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. A fresh Li-Polymer cell has a steeper voltage drop near the lower end of its curve than a degraded original cell. The phone reads 25% but the cell voltage has already dropped below the safe floor under modem or screen load, triggering an emergency shutdown. One full uninterrupted discharge-charge cycle resets the coulomb counter and aligns the percentage display to the new cell's actual curve.

USB fast charge not activating on the first cycle after replacement

On the first charge after installation, the charge IC may default to standard 5V/1A input until it confirms BMS readiness on the new cell. This is a protective handshake — the charger will not step up to fast-charge voltage on an uncalibrated cell. Let the phone charge fully once on standard power, then fast charging will negotiate normally on subsequent cycles. If fast charging still does not engage after two full cycles, check that the USB-C cable supports the required current rating.

Frequently Asked Questions

My S6 Active shuts off at around 25% battery — is the replacement cell faulty?

This is almost always a fuel gauge IC calibration issue, not a defective cell. The coulomb counter in the SM-G890A was calibrated to your old degraded cell's discharge curve, so it misreads the new cell's remaining capacity under load. Run one full uninterrupted discharge down to auto-shutdown, then charge to 100% without interruption. After that cycle the percentage reading will track the new cell correctly.

The phone doesn't power on at all after the EB-BG890ABA sat in a drawer for several months — what's happening?

Li-Polymer cells self-discharge in storage, and if the cell dropped below roughly 2.5V the BMS enters a lockout state to prevent damage. Plug into a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it connected for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on. The charge IC needs to trickle-charge the cell back above the BMS re-enable threshold before normal charging or boot can proceed. If the charge indicator light does not appear within 45 minutes, the cell voltage may have dropped too low for recovery via standard trickle.

Why does the battery percentage jump around erratically — dropping 10% then jumping back up — right after installation?

The fuel gauge IC uses a coulomb counter that was trained on your original cell's internal resistance and discharge profile. A new cell has lower internal resistance, so voltage readings fluctuate as the IC tries to map them to an outdated model. The erratic jumps settle down after one complete discharge-charge cycle forces the IC to recalculate its state-of-charge model from scratch. After that cycle, percentage reporting on the SM-G890A stabilises to within a few percentage points of actual remaining capacity.
