Emporia TALKsmart — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (AK-V800)
This is a 3.7V, 1450mAh Li-ion battery for the Emporia TALKsmart (V800, V800_001). It replaces part number AK-V800 directly. The cell restores power to calls, messaging, and standard phone functions after the original battery has degraded.
- TALKsmart / V800 platform fit: The V800 and V800_001 share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell covers both variants without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on a V800 unit and confirmed the BMS accepted the charge curve without fault codes, and the charge IC completed a full cycle to 4.2V without thermal cutoff triggering.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first cycle: On first use after installation, run one complete discharge-charge cycle with fast charging disabled. The fuel gauge IC on the TALKsmart calibrates its coulomb counter against the cell's discharge curve — skipping this step leaves the percentage readout unreliable for several days.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the TALKsmart after a cell swap
This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still using the discharge curve from the original cell. The new cell hits a voltage cliff — typically around 3.5V under modem or screen load — before the percentage reaches zero. The phone's power rail collapses faster than the old curve predicts. One full discharge-charge cycle at standard charge rate resets the coulomb counter and the shutdowns stop.
TALKsmart not powering on after the battery sat discharged in storage
Li-ion cells that drop below 2.5V trigger a BMS lockout to prevent damage from deep discharge. The phone will show nothing when you press the power button — no boot screen, no charging indicator. Connect it to a wall charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes before attempting to power on; the BMS needs a trickle current to recover the cell voltage above the 2.9V re-enable threshold before normal charging resumes.

My TALKsmart shuts off on its own when the battery still shows 25% — is something wrong with the replacement cell?
Nothing is wrong with the cell itself. The fuel gauge IC calibrated its discharge map to your original battery, and the new cell's voltage drops faster under load than that old map expects — the phone cuts power before the percentage reaches zero. Run one full discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% at standard rate. After that single cycle, the coulomb counter resets to the new cell's curve and the early shutdowns stop.
The battery percentage on my TALKsmart is jumping around erratically after I fitted the new cell — it was at 60%, then jumped to 80%, then dropped to 45%.
That's the fuel gauge IC recalibrating. It stored a discharge profile for the old cell, and when it sees unexpected voltage readings from a new cell, it corrects in large steps rather than smoothly. This settles after one or two complete discharge-charge cycles at standard rate. Do not interrupt those first cycles mid-charge — let each one run fully from near-zero to 100%.
Fast charging stopped working after I replaced the battery in my TALKsmart — the phone is charging but very slowly.
On the first charge cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC sometimes falls back to standard current until it confirms the new BMS is responding correctly to the voltage handshake. This is normal. Disconnect the charger, power the phone off fully, reconnect the charger, and let the phone boot while connected — this reinitiates the charge protocol negotiation. If fast charging still does not engage after that, complete one full standard-rate cycle first, then retry.
