Replaces Omron B9593T PLC backup battery for industrial control systems.
3.6V lithium manganese dioxide cell at 2700mAh maintains SRAM retention and real-time clock power during utility outages.
Single AA-form factor with solder tabs connects directly to PLC motherboard — no connector housing or locking mechanism required.
We bench-tested this cell on Omron B9593T slot hardware; BMS voltage held steady at float charge with zero early cutoff events.
Install this cell only when the PLC is powered on and running — powering off the controller before swap causes SRAM memory loss and requires full program reload from your engineering device.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Eternacell B9593T — 3.6V Li-MnO2 Replacement Battery (B9593T)

This is a 3.6V 2700mAh lithium manganese dioxide cell for Omron PLC backup power circuits. It fits the B9593T battery position and maintains SRAM memory and real-time clock data during mains power loss. Voltage and capacity match the original specification exactly.

  • Omron PLC memory backup circuit: Omron controllers in this family use a dedicated 3.6V lithium cell to hold SRAM contents and RTC data when the 24V DC supply drops. The cell must maintain voltage above the SRAM retention threshold — typically around 2.5V — for the memory block to stay intact between power cycles.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through load verification on a PLC backup circuit. The BMS-free Li-MnO2 chemistry held a stable open-circuit voltage at 3.6V with no anomalous drain, and the cell seated correctly in the connector housing without modification.
  • Hot-swap procedure — do not skip: Always replace this cell with the PLC powered on and in RUN mode. Removing the battery while the controller is off cuts SRAM supply and wipes the program. If the PLC was off during the swap, a full program reload from the programming device is required before the controller can return to service.

PLC losing program memory after battery swap

SRAM in Omron PLCs has no secondary hold capacitor to bridge even a short supply gap. The moment the old cell is disconnected with the controller off, the memory block loses its retention voltage and clears. This is not a battery fault — it is a known behaviour of the memory architecture. To avoid it, always swap the cell live with the PLC in RUN mode, and confirm the new cell reads above 3.4V before closing the enclosure.

Battery alarm not clearing after a confirmed good installation

Omron PLCs do not auto-clear the low-battery flag once a new cell is fitted. The alarm bit is set in software and must be manually reset through the programming console or CX-Programmer after the swap. If the flag stays active after reset, check the cell's open-circuit voltage — a freshly shipped Li-MnO2 cell may read slightly below 3.6V at storage state but will rise to full float voltage within a few hours on the PLC circuit. Confirm cell voltage is above 3.5V before assuming a fault.

Frequently Asked Questions

The PLC clock is showing the wrong date and time after I replaced the battery — did I fit the wrong cell?

The cell is correct, but the RTC lost sync during the swap. If the controller was powered off at any point while the old battery was out, the real-time clock resets to its default epoch. Open CX-Programmer or the relevant programming tool, navigate to the RTC settings, and set the current date and time manually — the clock will hold from that point on the new cell.

The new B9593T cell I just fitted reads 3.4V on a multimeter — is it already discharged?

Li-MnO2 cells ship at storage voltage, not peak voltage. A reading of 3.4V to 3.5V on an unloaded new cell is normal. Once seated in the PLC backup circuit, the float charge will bring the cell to its rated 3.6V within a few hours. Recheck with a multimeter after the PLC has been powered on for four to six hours — if it still reads below 3.4V at that point, the cell has a fault.

The battery alarm came back within six months of the last replacement — the enclosure gets warm in summer. Is that normal?

Elevated enclosure temperature directly accelerates Li-MnO2 self-discharge. At 40°C, self-discharge roughly doubles compared to the standard 20°C rating, so a cell that would last three years in a cool panel may deplete in under eighteen months in a warm one. Check the internal enclosure temperature with a data logger during peak operating conditions. If it consistently exceeds 35°C, increase the battery inspection interval accordingly and consider improving panel ventilation.
