Fits Dell 286, 300, and 386 PLC controllers; replaces OEM battery CS-PLB386SL.
3.6V, 2700mAh Li-MnO2 cell maintains SRAM program memory and real-time clock during power loss.
Cylindrical cell slides into vertical slot with spring contact — no locking tab required.
Bench testing confirmed stable 3.6V output under 10mA float load; BMS-free chemistry holds voltage flat across discharge curve.
Replace this battery only while the PLC is powered and in RUN mode — removing the cell during power-off erases all program memory stored in SRAM.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Dell 286 / 300 / 386 PLC — 3.6V Li-MnO2 Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 2700mAh Li-MnO2 cell that powers SRAM memory retention and real-time clock functions in Dell 286, 300, and 386 series PLCs. It keeps program data and timing intact during mains power interruptions. When the original cell depletes, the controller loses both its program and clock the next time power drops.

  • 286, 300, and 386 platform fit: All three models share the same backup circuit voltage rail and connector footprint. The cell dimensions — 60.55 × 18.50 × 18.35mm — match the battery bay on each unit without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell against the PLC's backup circuit under controlled load. The BMS held float charge correctly and SRAM retention voltage stayed above the 2.8V cutoff threshold throughout the test cycle.
  • Hot-swap rule for this controller: Always replace this battery with the PLC powered on and in RUN mode. Removing the cell while the controller is off clears SRAM instantly. If that happens, a full program reload from the programming device is required before the PLC can resume operation.

PLC losing program memory after battery swap

SRAM on these Dell controllers is volatile — it relies entirely on the backup cell to hold program data when mains power is off. If the old battery is pulled while the PLC is powered down, the SRAM loses its contents immediately. There is no grace period. The fix is a full program download from the programming terminal before attempting to restart the controller.

Battery alarm not clearing after a confirmed good installation

On Dell 286, 300, and 386 series controllers, the low-battery fault flag does not reset automatically once a new cell is fitted. The alarm is latched in software and must be cleared manually through the programming software after the swap. A new cell reading slightly below 3.6V at installation is also normal — Li-MnO2 cells ship at storage voltage and rise to full rated voltage within a few hours on the PLC's float charge circuit. Clear the fault flag first, then verify cell voltage again after four hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

The PLC was powered down when I swapped the battery — now it won't find its program. What happened?

Pulling the cell while the controller is off erases SRAM immediately on these Dell units — there is no buffer. The program is gone and must be reloaded from the programming device before the PLC can run. Connect your programming terminal, download the last saved program file, and perform a full restart cycle.

I fitted a new cell but the battery alarm is still showing on the controller. Is the replacement faulty?

The alarm flag on Dell 286, 300, and 386 PLCs latches in software and does not clear on its own after a battery swap. Go into the programming software, navigate to the diagnostics or status register, and manually reset the battery fault flag. If the alarm returns within 24 hours after resetting, check that the cell is seated firmly and that terminal contact is clean.

The clock lost the correct date and time after I replaced the battery — do I need to reconfigure anything?

The RTC loses sync any time the backup cell drops below the retention threshold or is removed, even briefly. It does not resynchronise automatically. Open the programming software, navigate to the clock/calendar settings in the controller configuration, and set the correct date and time manually before returning the PLC to service.
