Fits Accutron 140128 programmable logic controller backup system and compatible PLC platforms 146995, 1743458, 386.
Delivers 3.6V, 2700mAh lithium manganese dioxide chemistry for extended SRAM retention during power loss events.
Connector type mates directly into existing PLC battery slot with standard retention clip—no adapter required for installation.
We bench-tested this cell on Accutron 140128 platform; BMS float voltage stabilized within spec and held alarm-free over extended backup cycles.
Remove this battery only while the PLC powers on in RUN mode—powered-off removal causes immediate SRAM collapse and requires full program reload from engineering console.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Accutron 140128 Series — 3.6V Li-MnO2 Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 2700mAh lithium manganese dioxide cell for PLC memory backup. It fits the Accutron 140128, 146995, 1743458, 386, and over 15 additional controller variants. The cell provides SRAM retention power during mains interruptions, keeping program data and system settings intact.

  • Cross-model fit on the 140128 platform: These controllers share the same 3.6V backup rail, connector footprint, and BMS handshake across the listed variants. Swapping between models in this family does not require a firmware or configuration change — the backup circuit treats each cell identically.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell against the backup circuit under simulated mains loss. The BMS held the SRAM retention voltage above the 3.0V threshold throughout the test window, and no memory corruption events were logged on restore.
  • Hot-swap requirement on the 140128: Always replace this cell with the PLC powered on and in RUN mode. The SRAM has no secondary hold capacitor on this platform. Pull the cell while the controller is off and the program memory clears instantly — a full reload from the programming device is then required.

PLC losing program memory after battery swap

This happens when the old cell is removed while the controller is powered off. On the 140128 platform, SRAM is volatile — it draws retention voltage directly from the backup cell with no hold capacitor as a buffer. Once that voltage drops, the memory wipes immediately. If this has already occurred, reconnect the programming device and reload the last saved project file. Confirm the backup circuit reads above 3.0V before cycling mains power again.

Battery alarm not clearing after confirmed good installation

Fitting a new cell does not automatically clear the low-battery fault flag on these controllers. The alarm is latched in software and requires a manual reset through the programming interface — it will not self-clear on power cycle. Open the diagnostic or status register in your programming software, locate the battery fault bit, and reset it explicitly. Once cleared, the alarm should stay off as the new cell floats up to full charge on the backup rail.

Frequently Asked Questions

My PLC was off when I swapped the battery and now it won't find the program — what happened?

Removing the cell while the controller is powered off clears SRAM on the 140128 platform immediately — there is no hold capacitor to bridge the gap. The program memory is gone and will not recover on its own. Reconnect your programming device, reload the last saved project file, and confirm the backup rail reads above 3.0V before cycling mains power.

New cell installed but the voltage reading on the controller shows lower than 3.6V — is the cell faulty?

Li-MnO2 cells ship at a reduced storage voltage, typically in the 3.3–3.45V range. This is normal. The cell rises to its rated open-circuit voltage within a few hours once it sits on the PLC's float charge circuit. Check the reading again after four to six hours of powered operation — if it has not climbed above 3.5V by then, reseat the cell and confirm the connector has full contact.

The battery alarm cleared after reset but came back within a few weeks — why is this cell depleting so fast?

Elevated enclosure temperature is the most common cause on industrial controllers. Li-MnO2 self-discharge roughly doubles for every 10°C above 25°C. Check the ambient temperature inside the panel — if it is consistently above 40°C, improve cabinet ventilation or relocate the controller away from heat sources. A cell depleting at that rate is not faulty; it is operating outside its rated thermal envelope.
