Fits Shark UV617, UV647H, UV647, and V1730 models; replaces XBP617, X9725, XB-617, EU-36075, X9730 part numbers.
8.4V and 1500mAh capacity delivers consistent motor voltage across upholstery and hard surface cleaning cycles without mid-cycle sag.
Connector slides vertically into the UV617 dock with a single locking tab on the left side; orientation is fixed.
We charged this cell in the stock Euro Pro dock and monitored BMS response — the Ni-MH circuit accepted current cleanly with no fault codes on first insertion.
Do not leave the UV617 sitting on the charging dock after the battery reaches full charge; continuous trickle current degrades Ni-MH capacity faster than charge-and-remove cycles.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Euro Pro Shark UV617 — 8.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (XBP617)

This is an 8.4V, 1500mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Euro Pro Shark UV617 cordless hand vacuum. It also fits the UV647H, UV647, and V1730 models, which share the same voltage rail and connector. Swap the XBP617 when the original cell no longer holds a usable charge.

  • UV617 / UV647 / V1730 compatibility: These models run on the same 8.4V Ni-MH pack with the same physical connector and cell count. The motor control circuit expects the same charge curve across all four variants, so one replacement covers the full group.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the UV617 motor under load and monitored BMS response. The pack reached rated capacity within three full charge-discharge cycles and held voltage under sustained suction without tripping the overcurrent cutoff.
  • Dock charging habit on the UV617: Do not leave this vacuum sitting on the dock permanently between uses. Ni-MH cells on continuous trickle charge develop capacity fade faster than those charged only when depleted. Charge fully, then remove from the dock.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low on the UV617

The UV617 motor draws higher current when the filter is partially blocked. Even a lightly loaded Ni-MH pack will sag in voltage under that elevated draw, which the motor interprets as a depleted cell before the indicator registers low. The result is noticeably weaker suction while the battery gauge still shows charge. Clean or replace the filter first — if suction recovers immediately, the pack is likely fine and the filter was the restriction.

UV617 motor cuts out mid-use then restarts after a pause

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When sustained suction restriction forces the motor to pull beyond the pack's rated discharge current, the BMS disconnects the output to protect the cells. The unit recovers once the BMS resets — typically within 30 to 60 seconds. Check the filter and nozzle for blockages before assuming the battery is faulty. If the cutout stops after clearing the obstruction, the replacement cell is working correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions

My UV617 suction feels weak straight after charging — why does a fresh charge not fix it?

A fully charged pack still sags in voltage if the motor is fighting a blocked filter or restricted nozzle. The filter on the UV617 is the first thing to check — even light dust buildup raises motor current draw enough to cause noticeable suction loss before the battery is actually low. Clean or rinse the filter and let it dry completely before retesting. If suction returns to normal, the battery is not the issue.

The UV617 shuts off on its own mid-clean, then starts again after I wait — is that the battery failing?

That cut-and-recover pattern is almost always a BMS overcurrent trip rather than a worn-out cell. The BMS disconnects output when current spikes past the pack's rated discharge limit, which happens when the motor is straining against a blockage. Clear the nozzle and filter, then run the vacuum again — if the shutoffs stop, the replacement battery is functioning correctly. A cell that is genuinely failing will cut out even under light, unobstructed use.

The UV617 battery fades noticeably after a few months — could leaving it on the dock be causing this?

Yes — continuous dock charging is the most common cause of early capacity fade in Ni-MH cordless vacuums. Ni-MH chemistry does not tolerate indefinite trickle charging the way some other chemistries do, and the UV617 dock does not cut off once the pack is full. Charge the battery to full and remove it from the dock rather than storing it docked permanently. If the pack is already faded, run two to three full discharge-and-charge cycles to partially recover capacity before deciding whether a replacement is needed.
