Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Evolveo EasyPhone EP-500 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (EP-500)

This is a 3.7V, 1200mAh Li-ion cell for the Evolveo EasyPhone EP-500 — a compact feature-adjacent phone built for calls and messaging. It replaces the original battery when capacity has faded or the cell no longer holds charge. Dimensions are 53.00 × 33.90 × 5.70mm, matching the original battery bay.

  • EasyPhone EP-500 fitment: The EP-500 uses a removable battery with a fixed connector orientation and a shallow bay depth of 5.70mm. This cell matches that physical envelope and the 3.7V nominal rail the phone's charge IC expects.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the EP-500 platform. The BMS held cutoff correctly at both ends — no false-full stops and no undervoltage lockout during normal discharge.
  • First-cycle fuel gauge reset: After installing a new cell, run one complete discharge down to automatic shutdown and then charge uninterrupted to 100% before using the phone normally. This gives the fuel gauge IC a clean reference curve for the new cell's actual capacity.

Why the EP-500 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The EP-500 uses a fuel gauge IC that builds its charge estimates from the discharge curve of the previous cell. When you fit a new cell, the IC still references the old curve until it sees one full cycle. Until then, the displayed percentage drifts — often reading 15–20% higher than actual charge state. One complete discharge-to-shutdown followed by a full uninterrupted charge resets the coulomb counter and aligns the gauge to the new cell's actual 1200mAh curve.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This happens when the cell voltage drops sharply under load — typically when the modem transmits or the screen backlight peaks — pulling the cell below the BMS cutoff threshold even though the gauge still shows charge remaining. It is a voltage-cliff failure: the cell cannot sustain the required voltage under instantaneous current demand. A fresh cell out of storage may sit near this cliff if it has partially self-discharged. Charge the battery fully to 4.2V before first use and run the fuel gauge calibration cycle to push the shutdown point back to the correct low-voltage floor.

Frequently Asked Questions

The phone shuts off mid-call even though the battery still shows 25% — is something wrong with the new cell?

Nothing is wrong with the cell itself. At low states of charge, the EP-500's modem draws a short current spike during transmission that pulls the cell voltage below the BMS cutoff floor — the phone cuts out even though the gauge still shows charge remaining. This is a voltage-cliff event, not a dead cell. Run one full discharge-to-shutdown and an uninterrupted charge to 100% so the fuel gauge IC recalibrates its cutoff reference against the new cell's actual curve.

The battery percentage jumps erratically — showing 60%, then 45%, then back to 55% within minutes.

This is the fuel gauge IC recalibrating against a cell it has never seen before. The IC learned the discharge curve of the old battery, and the new 1200mAh cell produces a different voltage-versus-charge profile. Until the IC completes one full reference cycle, it interpolates charge state poorly and the display jumps. Let the phone discharge completely to automatic shutdown, then charge in one uninterrupted session to 100% — the IC will lock onto the correct curve and the percentage will stabilise.

The phone feels warm near the battery during the first few charges — is the new cell overheating?

Mild warmth on the first few charges is normal with a new high-impedance cell. A fresh Li-ion cell has slightly higher internal resistance than a cell that has been cycled a few times, so more energy converts to heat during the initial charge cycles. As long as the phone is not hot to the touch and charging is not cutting off early, nothing needs correcting. If the case becomes uncomfortably hot or the charge IC stops the session before 100%, remove the phone from charge and let it cool to room temperature before resuming.
