Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Evolveo StrongPhone WIFI — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (SGP-WIFI-BAT)

This is a 3.7V, 1700mAh Li-ion cell (6.29Wh) that replaces the original SGP-WIFI-BAT in the Evolveo StrongPhone WIFI. It fits the StrongPhone WIFI only — verify your model before ordering. Dimensions are 52.45 × 36.00 × 10.40mm; check these against your existing cell if the phone has seen any aftermarket work.

  • StrongPhone WIFI fitment: The SGP-WIFI-BAT connector and cell footprint are specific to this rugged handset's battery bay. The BMS handshake on the StrongPhone WIFI uses a single-wire thermistor line — any cell missing that contact will prevent the charge IC from initiating a charge cycle.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and load discharge on the StrongPhone WIFI platform. The BMS accepted the cell without error flags, and the charge IC held the correct 4.2V termination voltage throughout.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter against the new cell's actual discharge curve before high-current charging begins on an uncalibrated cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the StrongPhone WIFI after a cell swap

This is a voltage cliff issue, not a capacity problem. The modem radio and screen draw a combined surge load that the new cell cannot sustain at low state-of-charge until it has been cycled. The fuel gauge IC is still referencing the old cell's discharge curve, so the reported percentage doesn't match the actual cell voltage. Run two full discharge-charge cycles without fast charging and the shutdowns will stop once the coulomb counter re-anchors to the new curve.

Phone shows wrong battery percentage after fitting the replacement cell

The StrongPhone WIFI's fuel gauge IC stores the previous cell's discharge profile in memory. After a cell swap, that stored curve no longer matches the new cell, so percentage readings drift or jump. The fix is one full uninterrupted discharge to auto-off, followed by a full charge to 100% with the phone off or idle. After that cycle the fuel gauge re-anchors its zero and full reference points to the new cell, and percentage reporting stabilises.

Frequently Asked Questions

The StrongPhone WIFI won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is it dead?

It's almost certainly a BMS lockout, not a dead cell. If the cell discharged below roughly 2.5V during storage, the BMS trips an undervoltage cutoff to prevent further discharge damage and refuses to pass current to the phone. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell until it clears the lockout threshold, after which the phone will power on normally.

Fast charging stopped working on the StrongPhone WIFI after I fitted the new battery — it only charges slowly now.

The charge IC on the StrongPhone WIFI runs a handshake check on the first cycle after a cell swap. If the fuel gauge IC hasn't completed its initial calibration pass, the charge controller defaults to a conservative constant-current rate rather than risking high current into an unverified cell. Let the phone complete one full slow charge to 100%, then discharge it fully and charge again. Fast charging will re-enable once the charge IC confirms the cell is tracking correctly.

The StrongPhone WIFI gets noticeably warm near the battery during the first few charges after replacement — is something wrong?

This is expected behaviour on the first few cycles with a new high-impedance cell. A fresh Li-ion cell has slightly higher internal resistance than a broken-in cell, so the charge IC dissipates more energy as heat while the cell accepts current. The warmth should reduce noticeably after two or three full cycles as the cell's internal resistance settles. If the phone stays hot throughout a full charge beyond the third cycle, check that the battery connector is fully seated — a partially connected thermistor line causes the charge IC to run without temperature feedback, which produces sustained overheating.
