Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Falk IBEX 25 / IBEX 32 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (1674830000)

This 3.7V 1800mAh Li-ion cell replaces OEM part 1674830000 in the Falk IBEX 25, IBEX 25 Touring, and IBEX 32 handheld GPS navigators. It matches the original cell's footprint at 52.10 × 51.00 × 6.50mm and drops into the battery bay without modification. Capacity is rated at 6.66Wh, identical to the factory spec.

  • IBEX 25, IBEX 25 Touring, and IBEX 32 compatibility: All three models use the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS voltage thresholds. The 1674830000 part number covers the full series, so one cell fits across all three variants without any wiring or adapter changes.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the IBEX platform and monitored BMS handshake at each stage. The protection circuit triggered correctly at low-voltage cutoff and accepted a standard charge current without fault flags.
  • Cold-start tip after fitting: After installing this cell, take the unit outdoors and power it on before your first route. Removing the battery clears the GPS receiver's ephemeris data, so the device performs a cold start — expect the first satellite fix to take 5–10 minutes. Subsequent power cycles will lock on much faster once the almanac is rebuilt.

Why the IBEX 25 shuts off without warning at low battery

The IBEX 25 reads the battery indicator from a stored voltage curve calibrated to the original cell. After a battery swap, that curve is no longer accurate until the device logs a full discharge cycle. Until then, the on-screen indicator may show one bar remaining while the actual cell voltage is already at the BMS cutoff threshold — typically around 3.0V for this chemistry. The result is an abrupt shutdown with no low-battery warning. Run one full charge-to-cutoff cycle after fitting the new cell to recalibrate the indicator.

GPS accuracy dropping noticeably during long navigation sessions

Some Falk IBEX units reduce GPS receiver sensitivity as cell voltage falls below approximately 3.4V, shedding power draw from the radio front-end to extend operation. This shows up as position jumps or a wider accuracy circle on the map — not a fault with the GPS module itself. Charging the battery back above 3.7V restores full receiver sensitivity. If accuracy problems appear early in a session, check that the cell seated fully and the connector contacts are clean.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Falk IBEX 25 lost all my saved routes after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The IBEX 25 stores some route and POI data in RAM that relies on continuous battery power to hold its state. A full power interruption — such as removing the cell — wipes that volatile memory. Saved routes stored only in RAM are gone permanently after a swap; data written to internal flash is not affected. Before any battery replacement, export your routes to a PC via the Falk software as a backup.

The satellite lock on my IBEX 25 is taking much longer than it used to after the battery swap — what's happening?

Removing the battery erases the GPS receiver's almanac and ephemeris data, which are the orbital tables it uses to find satellites quickly. Without that data, the device performs a cold start and has to download fresh ephemeris from scratch — that process takes 5–10 minutes outdoors with a clear sky view. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. Once the almanac rebuilds after the first fix, subsequent locks will return to under a minute.

My IBEX 32 drains the new battery much faster when I'm actively navigating versus just carrying it in standby — why?

Active navigation runs both the GPS receiver and the display simultaneously, which is the highest power draw state the device has. Standby with the screen off cuts draw significantly because the display backlight alone accounts for a large share of total current. Lowering screen brightness during navigation is the single most effective way to reduce drain. If the device is already at minimum brightness and drain still seems excessive, check that track recording is not set to high-frequency logging, which keeps the GPS receiver active at full sensitivity continuously.
