Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Fly DS120 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BL6203)
This is a 3.7V, 1300mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Fly DS120 smartphone. It carries OEM part number BL6203 and slots directly into the DS120's battery bay. Capacity figure is 4.81Wh.
- DS120 platform fit: The DS120 uses a compact 60.00 × 43.80 × 4.50mm cell running at 3.7V nominal. This replacement matches that voltage rail and physical footprint, so the phone's power management IC sees the same parameters as the original BL6203.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a DS120 unit. The BMS accepted the charge handshake without fault flags, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold — no thermal events recorded.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This gives the fuel gauge IC time to map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes load into an uncalibrated state.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the DS120 after a cell swap
The DS120's fuel gauge IC holds a discharge curve learned from the original cell. When a new cell goes in, the stored curve no longer matches actual cell behaviour, and the phone miscalculates remaining capacity. Under modem or screen load — both high-current draws — the new cell's voltage drops faster than the IC expects, and the phone hits its emergency cutoff while still reporting 20–30% remaining. One full discharge-charge cycle without fast charging resets the coulomb counter and lets the IC relearn the curve against the new cell.
Battery percentage jumping erratically on the DS120
Erratic percentage readings on the DS120 — jumping from 45% to 60% or dropping 15% in seconds — point to the fuel gauge IC recalibrating against a new cell it has not yet fully characterised. This is not a fault with the replacement cell itself. Drain the battery until the phone shuts off automatically, then charge uninterrupted to 100% with the screen on as little as possible. After one complete cycle, readings stabilise at the correct voltage-to-percentage mapping, typically within ±3%.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Fly DS120 won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is it dead?
Most likely the cell discharged below the BMS lockout threshold, which sits around 2.5V per cell on Li-ion packs. At that voltage the protection circuit cuts all output to prevent damage, so the phone sees no power regardless of the charge state shown. Connect to a charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing anything — the charge IC needs time to trickle current into the cell until it rises above the BMS re-enable threshold. If the charging LED does not appear within 40 minutes, check the charger output is at least 5V 1A.
The DS120 gets noticeably warm near the battery during the first few charges — is something wrong?
A new Li-ion cell starts with higher internal impedance than a conditioned one, which means the charge IC dissipates more energy as heat on the first few cycles. This is normal and reduces as the cell cycles. Keep the phone out of a case for the first two or three charges so heat can escape the back cover. If the phone becomes too hot to hold comfortably, stop charging and let it cool to room temperature before resuming — sustained heat above 45°C degrades cell chemistry faster than normal cycling.
Fast charging stopped working on my DS120 after I fitted the new BL6203 — it only trickle charges now.
On first contact with a new cell, the DS120's charge controller may not immediately negotiate the faster charge profile — it defaults to a conservative current until the BMS handshake completes across a full cycle. Remove the battery, reseat it firmly so the contact pads are fully engaged, and restart the phone before connecting the charger. If the fast charge indicator still does not appear after a full discharge-charge cycle, verify the charger output matches the DS120's rated input — an underpowered adapter keeps the charge IC locked in trickle mode regardless of battery state.
