Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Fly IQ447 / Era Life 1 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BL5204)
This is a 3.7V, 1500mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Fly IQ447 and Era Life 1 smartphones. It replaces the original BL5204 cell when the factory battery no longer holds adequate charge. Voltage and capacity match the original specification exactly.
- IQ447 and Era Life 1 compatibility: Both models share the BL5204 form factor — same connector, same contact polarity, and the same 3.7V nominal rail that feeds the display, modem, and processor. The BMS handshake is identical across both variants, so the phone's charge IC accepts the cell without flagging an unknown battery warning.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the IQ447 platform. The BMS held cutoff cleanly at 4.2V charge termination and triggered low-voltage protection before the cell dropped below 3.0V under load. No thermal events, no premature cutoff.
- Fuel gauge recalibration after install: On first use, disable any fast-charge mode and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle at standard current. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter against the new cell's actual discharge curve before high-current charging begins on an uncalibrated reference.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Fly IQ447
This happens when the cell can no longer sustain voltage under the combined load of the modem radio and display backlight. At around 3.55–3.6V under load, the voltage sags past the BMS cutoff threshold even though the fuel gauge still shows charge remaining. It is not a faulty battery — it is a calibration mismatch. Run one full discharge cycle from 100% down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. The fuel gauge IC will remap its curve and the early shutdowns stop.
IQ447 showing wrong battery percentage after cell swap
The fuel gauge IC on the IQ447 stores a discharge curve profile calibrated to the old cell. When a new cell goes in, the stored curve no longer matches actual cell behaviour, so the percentage reading drifts or jumps. The fix is a full reference cycle: charge to 100%, let the phone discharge to automatic shutdown without interruption, then charge back to 100% in one pass. After that cycle the coulomb counter recalibrates to the new cell and percentage accuracy returns.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Fly IQ447 won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for months — is it dead?
The BMS has likely tripped into lockout after the cell self-discharged below 2.5V during storage. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. Most BMS circuits begin a low-current trickle recovery charge at this point and will re-initialise once the cell climbs back above 3.0V. If the charge indicator still does not appear after 45 minutes on the wall adapter, the cell has dropped below the BMS recovery threshold and needs a replacement unit.
The IQ447 feels warm near the battery while charging with the new cell — is that normal?
A new high-impedance cell produces more heat during the first few charge cycles than a broken-in cell does. The charge IC pushes current into a cell with slightly higher internal resistance, which converts some of that energy to heat rather than stored charge. This typically normalises after three to five full cycles as the cell's internal resistance settles. If the phone becomes hot to the touch rather than just warm, or if charging stops and restarts repeatedly, check that the charger output does not exceed 5V 1A — use the original Fly wall adapter for the first few cycles.
Fast charging stopped working on the IQ447 after I put in the new battery — did I damage something?
The phone's charge IC runs a handshake on the first cycle to verify the new cell's BMS response before enabling higher charge current. On the first cycle after a cell swap, many devices default to standard 5V charging regardless of what charger is connected. Charge the phone fully once at standard rate, then power it off and back on. On the second cycle the charge IC re-evaluates the BMS and fast charge typically re-enables. If it does not return after two full cycles, confirm the charger cable supports the required current — a degraded cable limits negotiated current before the phone's charge IC even requests it.
