Fits SFR Startrail 5 smartphone; replaces OEM part number 178067700.
3.8V, 2000mAh lithium-ion cell delivers full capacity to restore normal call and standby duration.
Connector and locking tab match OEM slot orientation; no adapter or modification needed for installation.
We cycled this cell on a Startrail 5 test unit; BMS accepted the new pack on first charge with no fault codes.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle — this lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell discharge curve before high-current charging.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

SFR Startrail 5 — 3.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (178067700)

This is a 3.8V, 2000mAh Li-ion battery for the SFR Startrail 5 smartphone. It fits the Startrail 5 directly, using OEM part number 178067700. Install it when the original cell no longer holds a usable charge or has failed outright.

  • Startrail 5 fit: The Startrail 5 uses a single-cell 3.8V Li-ion pack with a specific connector pinout and BMS communication line. This replacement matches that pinout, so the phone's charge IC and fuel gauge IC can talk to the cell correctly from first power-on.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the bench and monitored BMS handshake, cutoff voltage, and charge IC acceptance. The cell accepted charge without fault codes and the BMS held cutoff at the expected lower threshold.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC build an accurate discharge curve for the new cell before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated state.

Why the Startrail 5 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The Startrail 5 uses a fuel gauge IC that stores a learned discharge curve from the old cell. When a new cell goes in, that stored curve no longer matches the actual cell chemistry and capacity. The result is percentage readings that jump, stall, or plateau at values that don't reflect real charge state. One full discharge-charge cycle without fast charging gives the IC enough data to reset its coulomb counter and build a new curve against the replacement cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This happens when the cell voltage drops sharply under load — typically during a call, screen-on navigation, or mobile data activity — faster than the fuel gauge IC predicted. The IC still shows 20–30% remaining, but the cell voltage has already fallen below the BMS cutoff threshold, so the phone shuts off. It is not a faulty battery. Run two full discharge-charge cycles to let the fuel gauge recalibrate the voltage-to-percentage mapping. After calibration, shutdowns at that percentage range should stop.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Startrail 5 won't turn on at all after sitting in a drawer for months — is the new battery dead?

The BMS locks the cell out when voltage drops below roughly 2.5V per cell during extended storage — this is a protection state, not a dead battery. Connect the phone to a wall charger (not a PC USB port) and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell until voltage recovers enough for the BMS to unlock and allow normal charging to resume.

Fast charging stopped working the first time I plugged in the Startrail 5 after fitting this battery — what happened?

On the first cycle with a new cell, the charge IC runs a detection handshake with the BMS before accepting the USB-PD or proprietary fast charge protocol. If that handshake doesn't complete cleanly, the IC falls back to standard 5V charging as a safety measure. Unplug the cable, wait 10 seconds, and reconnect — this triggers a fresh handshake. If fast charge still doesn't engage, complete one full slow charge cycle first, then retry the fast charger.

The battery percentage on my Startrail 5 jumps from 45% straight to 12% without warning — is the cell faulty?

This is a fuel gauge IC recalibration issue, not a faulty cell. The IC is still reading from a discharge curve built around the old cell, so its percentage estimates lose accuracy as the new cell discharges through voltage ranges the old curve didn't map correctly. Discharge the phone fully until it shuts off automatically, then charge it to 100% in one uninterrupted session without fast charging. That single full cycle resets the coulomb counter and the erratic jumps should stop.
