Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

McCulloch ROB R600 / ROB R800 Series — 18V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 18V 1500mAh Li-ion battery fits the McCulloch ROB R600 and ROB R800 robotic lawn mower series across multiple model years. It slots into the docking compartment and communicates with the onboard BMS the same way the factory pack does. Capacity is 1500mAh (27Wh), matching the original specification.
- ROB R600 and R800 compatibility: These models share the same 18V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol across the 2017–2019 production runs, which is why one pack covers the full range.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full charge-discharge cycles on the ROB platform and confirmed the BMS handshake completed without fault codes. Blade motor inrush current at start-up stayed within cutoff thresholds on flat and moderate-slope lawn profiles.
- Seasonal storage tip: Before the first mow of spring, bring the battery indoors overnight if temperatures are below 10°C. Cold Li-ion cells have higher internal resistance, and the blade motor's inrush current can trip the BMS on a pack that has not warmed to room temperature.
Charger showing fault after the mower sat in the garage all winter
Li-ion cells self-discharge slowly during long-term storage. If the pack drops below approximately 2.5V per cell over winter, the charger's acceptance circuit will reject it and show a fault light. This is a low-voltage lockout — the charger sees the pack as potentially damaged and refuses to begin a standard charge cycle. Some McCulloch chargers include a recovery or wake-up mode; holding the charge button for 10 seconds initiates a low-current pre-charge that brings the cells back above the acceptance threshold before switching to normal charging.
Mower cuts out mid-row on thick or wet grass, then restarts after a pause
The blade motor draws significantly more current through dense or wet grass than on a dry, short lawn. When that inrush exceeds the BMS current threshold, the pack trips its overcurrent protection and cuts power to protect the cells. This is not a battery fault — it is the protection circuit doing its job. Allow a five-minute cooldown so the BMS resets, then resume on a drier section or after the mower has re-entered from the dock. If the problem repeats consistently, check that the blade disc is clean and the blades are not worn down to a blunt edge, as drag increases sharply with dull blades.

Frequently Asked Questions
My McCulloch ROB R600 battery feels noticeably warm after the first few charges — is something wrong?
Heat on the first several cycles is normal cell conditioning behaviour, not a fault. New Li-ion cells have slightly higher internal resistance until the electrolyte fully wets the electrode surfaces, which generates a little extra heat during charge and discharge. This settles down after approximately five full cycles. If the pack is still running significantly hotter than the old battery after cycle six, check that the battery compartment vents on the mower body are clear of grass clippings.
The charger accepts the pack fine, but the mower's runtime feels much shorter on the first few spring cuts compared to last autumn — why?
Li-ion capacity drops measurably below 10°C because colder cells have higher internal resistance and cannot deliver the same usable energy. The mower's BMS will trigger an early low-voltage cutoff when the pack cannot sustain the blade motor's load voltage under cold conditions. This is not permanent capacity loss. Bring the battery indoors for at least two hours before the first mow of the season — a pack at 18–20°C will deliver its full rated 1500mAh where a pack at 5°C may deliver noticeably less.
The ROB R600 stops mid-programme, returns to the dock, and the charger light pulses rather than showing a steady charge — what is triggering this?
A pulsing charge light on the McCulloch dock typically indicates the pack's thermal sensor reported an elevated cell temperature when the mower docked. The charger pauses and waits for the pack to cool before resuming. This is most common after a long mowing session on a warm day or after repeated blade-load trips that built up heat in the cells. Leave the mower docked and undisturbed for 15–20 minutes — once the pack cools below the thermal threshold (approximately 45°C internally), the charger will switch back to a steady charge cycle automatically.
