Fits Garmin Nuvi 1100 and Nuvi 1100LM GPS navigators, replacing OEM part number AE10AE16AB2BX.
This 3.7V 1000mAh Li-ion cell delivers full capacity for standard navigation and real-time traffic modes.
Connector slots into the battery bay with single-contact alignment; tab locks flush against the device frame.
We bench-tested the BMS with the Nuvi 1100 charger dock — voltage ramp held steady, no cutoff anomalies observed.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before navigating — cold start after power interruption takes 5–10 minutes for first lock.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Garmin Nuvi 1100 / 1100LM — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (AE10AE16AB2BX)

This 3.7V Li-ion cell replaces the original AE10AE16AB2BX battery in the Garmin Nuvi 1100 and Nuvi 1100LM portable GPS navigators. Capacity is 1000mAh (3.7Wh), matching the stock specification. Dimensions are 53.24 x 34.05 x 5.34mm — a direct physical match for the battery bay.

  • Nuvi 1100 and 1100LM coverage: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and 3.7V supply rail, so one cell covers the full pair. No adapter or wiring change needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Nuvi platform and confirmed the BMS communicates charge state correctly to the device — no false full-charge flags or early cutoff events.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after swap: After fitting this cell, power the Nuvi fully on outdoors before driving. A full power interruption clears the GPS receiver's almanac cache, triggering a cold start. First fix can take 5–10 minutes. Subsequent power-ons warm-start in under a minute once the almanac is rebuilt.

GPS accuracy reduced at low battery on the Nuvi 1100

When the cell voltage drops below roughly 3.5V, the Nuvi 1100 reduces power to the GPS receiver module to extend operation time. Lower receiver power means weaker signal sensitivity, which can cause position drift or missed turns in areas with obstructed sky view. Swapping a degraded battery that spends most of its cycle below 3.5V will correct this. A healthy cell holds above 3.6V through most of its discharge curve under navigation load.

Nuvi 1100 shuts off without warning at low battery

The Nuvi 1100's battery indicator relies on voltage-to-capacity mapping calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve. A degraded or mismatched cell can show two bars on the indicator right up to the point the voltage collapses below the device's cutoff threshold, then the unit dies instantly with no warning. This is a calibration mismatch, not a device fault. After fitting this replacement, run two full charge-discharge cycles under navigation use — the device will re-map the indicator to the new cell's curve and low-battery warnings will appear at the correct point.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Nuvi 1100 saved routes and favourites disappeared after I replaced the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The Nuvi 1100 stores some route and POI data in battery-backed RAM, which loses its state when power is fully removed during a swap. Saved favourites stored to the internal flash memory are unaffected, but active routes and recent destinations loaded into RAM will be gone. Before swapping, use the device's "My Data" export function to back your favourites to the SD card — they can be re-imported in under two minutes after the swap.

After the battery swap my Nuvi 1100 is taking 5–10 minutes to get a GPS fix instead of a few seconds — what happened?

Removing power clears the GPS receiver's almanac and ephemeris cache, which forces a cold start. The receiver has to reacquire all visible satellite positions from scratch, which takes 5–10 minutes outdoors with a clear sky view. This is a one-time event. Once the almanac is rebuilt and saved, subsequent power-ons warm-start and lock in under a minute. Park outdoors with an unobstructed view of the sky for the first fix after any battery replacement.

My Nuvi 1100 drains much faster when I'm actively navigating than when it's just sitting on the dash — is something wrong with the battery?

Nothing is wrong. Active navigation runs the GPS receiver, map rendering, and display simultaneously — that load draws significantly more current than standby. The display brightness setting has the largest single impact; dropping it from maximum to mid-range noticeably reduces draw under navigation. If drain still seems excessive, check that the screen timeout is enabled rather than set to "always on," which keeps the backlight at full power for the entire trip.
