Fits Magellan RoadMate 3030 and RoadMate 3030-LM GPS navigators; replaces OEM part MR3030.
Voltage 3.7V, capacity 750mAh delivers the same power envelope as original pack for this portable navigator.
Connector type is proprietary Magellan; orientation locks into the battery door with single retention tab underneath.
We bench-tested this cell on RoadMate 3030 hardware; BMS accepted charge at standard lithium profile, no early cutoff observed.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire satellite fix before navigation — cold start after power interruption takes 5–10 minutes for initial lock versus under a minute on warm starts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Magellan RoadMate 3030 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (MR3030)

This 3.7V, 750mAh lithium-ion cell replaces the original battery in the Magellan RoadMate 3030 and RoadMate 3030-LM portable GPS navigators. It fits the same footprint at 50.60 × 35.69 × 6.08mm and connects directly to the device's internal battery circuit. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds a usable charge between drives.

  • RoadMate 3030 and 3030-LM compatibility: Both models run the same 3.7V single-cell architecture with an identical connector and physical envelope. One cell covers both variants — no wiring changes, no adapter required.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the RoadMate platform. The BMS held the 3.7V nominal rail cleanly, accepted a full charge without triggering protection cutoff, and discharged at the low draw typical of a GPS receiver and LCD backlight.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after fitting: After fitting this cell, power the unit on outdoors and leave it stationary. The RoadMate performs a cold start after any full power interruption — first satellite fix takes 5–10 minutes versus under a minute on subsequent warm starts. Let it complete that initial lock before driving.

GPS accuracy reduced when battery level drops below threshold

The RoadMate 3030 reduces GPS receiver sensitivity at low battery to extend remaining charge. This drops position accuracy — the unit may show your location drifting or jumping to the nearest road rather than tracking your actual path. It's a firmware-level power conservation behaviour, not a hardware fault. Keep the cell above 3.5V during active navigation to maintain full receiver sensitivity.

RoadMate shuts off mid-route without a low-battery warning

After a battery replacement, the RoadMate's charge indicator is uncalibrated to the new cell's discharge curve. The device reads remaining capacity inaccurately and hits its voltage cutoff threshold before the on-screen warning fires. Run two to three full charge and discharge cycles on the new cell. The indicator recalibrates progressively and the warning will appear at the correct point — typically when cell voltage reaches approximately 3.4V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My RoadMate 3030 lost all my saved routes and favourites after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The RoadMate 3030 stores saved routes and custom POIs in RAM that loses its state on full power removal. Swapping the battery cuts power entirely, so that data clears. Re-enter your saved destinations after fitting the new cell, then back them up via the Magellan Content Manager software to avoid losing them again.

The RoadMate 3030 is taking forever to find satellites after the battery swap — what's wrong?

Nothing is wrong. Removing the battery wipes the GPS receiver's almanac and ephemeris data, forcing a cold start. Cold start acquisition on the RoadMate 3030 takes 5–10 minutes with a clear sky view. Take the unit outdoors, hold it stationary, and wait for the satellite bar to fill — subsequent power cycles will lock in under a minute once the almanac rebuilds.

Active navigation drains the new battery much faster than just idling on the home screen — why?

Active navigation runs the GPS receiver at full polling rate alongside the display at operating brightness, which draws significantly more current than standby. The 750mAh cell in this unit is sized for a portable GPS and that draw rate is expected. Dim the backlight one or two steps in the display settings and use a 12V car charger during longer drives to keep the cell topped up.
