Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Magellan RoadMate 3065 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (T300-3)
This is a 3.7V 750mAh Li-ion cell that replaces part number T300-3 in the Magellan RoadMate 3065, 3065T-LM, 3055, 3055-MU, and several related RoadMate models. It fits directly into the GPS navigator's battery bay with the original connector. Capacity matches the product data at 750mAh (2.78Wh) — the same spec as the factory cell.
- RoadMate 3055 and 3065 series fit: These models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pin-out, and 3.7V supply rail. The T300-3 part number applies across both series — swapping between them does not require a different cell.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the RoadMate platform. The BMS accepted the new cell without fault flags, and the charge controller stepped through its normal constant-current to constant-voltage transition cleanly.
- Cold-start satellite acquisition after swap: After fitting this cell, power the unit on outdoors before your first drive. A full power interruption clears the GPS receiver's ephemeris cache, triggering a cold start. First fix can take 5–10 minutes outdoors with a clear sky view — subsequent starts drop back to under a minute once the almanac is rebuilt.
RoadMate 3065 shutting off without warning at low battery
After a battery replacement, the RoadMate's battery indicator is uncalibrated against the new cell's discharge curve. The unit may show two bars remaining, then cut off immediately — no gradual warning. This happens because the voltage-threshold that triggers shutdown is hit before the visual indicator catches up. Run two or three full charge-discharge cycles on the new cell. The indicator recalibrates itself against actual cell behaviour and the warnings align with real remaining capacity.
Active navigation draining the RoadMate 3065 faster than standby
Running turn-by-turn navigation stacks the GPS receiver, display backlight, and traffic antenna — all drawing simultaneously. Standby pulls a fraction of that load because the receiver duty-cycles and the display dims. To extend charge between top-ups, drop display brightness below maximum and disable live traffic when you do not need it. At full navigation load, the 750mAh cell is working at the top of its draw range.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Magellan RoadMate 3065 lost all my saved routes after I swapped the battery — is that normal?
Yes. The RoadMate stores saved routes and recent destinations in battery-backed RAM. A full power removal — which happens during a battery swap — wipes that volatile memory. Favourites stored to internal flash survive, but recent route history and any unsaved stops do not. Before swapping, screenshot or note any routes you need, then re-enter them after the new cell is installed.
The RoadMate 3065 took nearly 10 minutes to find a signal after I put in the new battery — something wrong with it?
Nothing is wrong. When power is fully interrupted, the GPS receiver loses its cached ephemeris data — the orbital information it uses for fast fixes. It has to download that data fresh from satellites, which takes 5–10 minutes outdoors with a clear sky view. That is a cold start. Once the almanac rebuilds, every subsequent fix will come in under a minute. Step outside, let the unit sit still with a clear view overhead, and do not start driving until the fix confirms.
My RoadMate 3065 GPS accuracy seems worse at low battery — the position keeps jumping around. What causes that?
Some GPS units reduce receiver sensitivity when battery voltage drops below a threshold — the processor lowers power to the RF front end to protect the remaining charge. This cuts the effective number of satellites the unit can track simultaneously, which degrades position accuracy. The jumping position is a symptom of that reduced lock count, not a map or antenna fault. Keep the unit charged above half, or plug into the vehicle's USB port during navigation to keep the receiver running at full sensitivity.
