Fits Gateway Solo 2300, Solo 2500, Solo 9100, Solo 9150 notebooks; replaces OEM part numbers 1507480, 6500099, 6500190, 6500332, PWCBTY020AAWW.
14.8V 6600mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 97.68Wh total capacity for full notebook runtime on portable operation without AC power.
Connector seats into the proprietary Gateway slot with a single locking tab on the left edge; verify tab alignment before inserting to avoid contact misalignment.
Bench testing shows BMS accepts charge immediately on insertion; fuel gauge IC requires one full discharge-to-hibernation cycle followed by uninterrupted charge to 100% for BIOS calibration.
After installation, run the notebook to sleep, then charge continuously to full without interruption—this resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and eliminates the inaccurate health warnings that appear after every cell swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Gateway Solo 2300 / 2500 / 9100 / 9150 — 14.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (1507480)

This is a 14.8V, 6600mAh (97.68Wh) lithium-ion battery for the Gateway Solo 2300, 2500, 9100, and 9150 notebook computers. It replaces OEM part numbers 1507480, 6500099, 6500190, 6500332, and PWCBTY020AAWW. Fit the battery and the laptop runs on battery power again — no AC adapter required for portable use.

  • Solo 2300, 2500, 9100, and 9150 compatibility: These four models share the same 14.8V battery rail, physical connector, and BMS handshake protocol, which is why one cell covers the entire group. The BMS communicates charge state to the BIOS over the same SMBus implementation across all four platforms.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on a Solo 9100 unit. The BMS engaged charge termination cleanly at 16.8V and tripped the low-cell-voltage cutoff at the correct threshold — no runaway, no false trip on startup.
  • Post-install calibration on Gateway Solo notebooks: After fitting, run the battery down until the laptop hibernates on low battery, then charge it uninterrupted to 100% before using it again. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.

BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after fitting a new cell

The Solo BIOS reads battery health from EEPROM data written by the previous cell. When a new cell goes in, the EEPROM values no longer match the actual chemistry, so the BIOS flags a health warning. This is not a fault with the replacement battery. Run one full discharge-to-hibernate cycle followed by a complete uninterrupted charge to 100% — the BIOS learn cycle rewrites the relevant registers against the new cell and the warning clears.

Laptop shuts down hard at 20–30% charge shown on the fuel gauge

This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. The new cell hits a voltage cliff under full CPU and display load at a point the gauge still reads as 20–30%. The laptop shuts down to protect the cell, but the gauge reading is wrong — not the cell. Complete two full discharge-to-hibernate cycles then charge to 100% each time to recalibrate the fuel gauge IC against the new cell's actual voltage curve. After two cycles the reported percentage and the true remaining capacity align.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Gateway Solo shows the battery as "unknown" or 0% right after I put in the new cell — is the battery dead?

No — the fuel gauge IC lost its reference when the old cell was removed, so it has no baseline to read against. Charge the new cell to 100% uninterrupted, then run it all the way down to hibernate cutoff, then charge back to 100% without interruption. After one full cycle the fuel gauge IC resets its calibration and the OS reports a real percentage.

System info shows the wrong Wh rating after fitting this battery — it says something lower than 97.68Wh.

The Wh figure shown in Windows or the BIOS is pulled from EEPROM data stored by the original cell, not measured from the new one. The actual cell is 97.68Wh as rated. After the BIOS battery learn cycle completes — one full discharge to hibernate, then a full charge to 100% — the system rewrites the EEPROM registers and the reported Wh figure corrects itself.

My Solo 9150 cuts off charging at around 80% and never reaches a full charge after the swap.

Some Gateway BIOS versions ship with a charge-limit flag enabled — this caps charging at 80% as a cell-longevity setting and has nothing to do with the replacement battery. Enter the BIOS setup utility, navigate to the Power Management section, and look for a Battery Charge Threshold or similar setting. Disable it, save, and reboot — the battery will then charge to 100%.
