Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

GE 2-9445 / 2-6936GE2 Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BT-15)

This is a 3.6V, 700mAh nickel-metal hydride replacement battery for GE cordless phone handsets using the BT-15 pack. It fits the 2-9445, 2-6936GE2, 5-9519, and 10-0935 models, among others. The battery slots into the handset battery compartment and connects through the same three-tab contact as the original GE pack.

  • Multi-model fit across GE handsets: These GE handsets share a common 3.6V NiMH cell arrangement, identical connector footprint, and the same BMS-free passive charging circuit — the base station controls charge termination, not the pack itself. That is why one BT-15 part number covers multiple models.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on GE base station hardware. The base accepted the pack at initial voltage without error, and charge current ramped normally through delta-V termination.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before using it. NiMH cells shipped in partial-charge state need a slow, uninterrupted first charge to reach rated capacity — pulling it off the base early shortens every cycle that follows.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

NiMH cells arrive from storage at reduced capacity — typically 60–70% of rated spec. The first three to five full charge-discharge cycles gradually restore the electrodes to full capacity. Do not judge the battery on the first or second use. Run the handset until the low-battery tone sounds, return it to the base for a full charge, and repeat — capacity increases measurably with each cycle until it stabilises near the rated 700mAh.

Base station charge light stays off or shows error after installing new pack

GE base stations use a voltage window to confirm a valid pack is seated. A battery that has discharged below approximately 3.0V during storage may fall outside that acceptance threshold, so the base refuses to start a charge cycle. Remove the handset, leave the pack to rest for 10 minutes, then reseat it firmly — contact pressure matters on these three-tab connectors. If the base still does not respond, check that all three contacts on the handset are clean and making flush contact before assuming the pack is faulty.

Frequently Asked Questions

My GE handset won't pair with the base after I swapped the battery — did I break something?

No — several GE DECT handsets lose their pairing data when power is fully removed from the handset, which happens the moment you pull the old battery. The handset needs to re-register to the base. Hold the Find Handset or Page button on the base for 4–6 seconds while the handset is powered on and within two metres of the base to trigger re-pairing.

The battery is draining completely overnight even though the handset is sitting in the base — what's wrong?

This is almost always a seating problem, not a faulty battery. If the handset is not fully clicked into the cradle, the charging contacts do not make a solid connection and the handset runs entirely on battery in standby. Lift the handset out, wipe the three brass contacts on both the handset and base with a dry cloth, and reseat it until you feel or hear it click into position — then check the charge indicator confirms it is actually charging.

The range on my GE cordless phone dropped noticeably after I put in the new battery — is this normal?

Yes, temporarily. DECT transmit power draws a short burst of current during each transmission frame, and a NiMH pack that hasn't completed its conditioning cycles yet shows voltage sag under that RF load. The base station interprets the sag as low battery and reduces transmit power to protect the pack. Complete four to five full charge-discharge cycles and the internal resistance of the cells drops, voltage sag under RF load reduces, and range returns to normal.
