Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Getac PS236 / PS336 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (441820900006)
This 3.7V, 6800mAh lithium-ion battery replaces the OEM pack in the Getac PS236, PS236C, and PS336 handheld barcode scanners. These rugged mobile data collection devices are common in warehouse, logistics, and retail environments where multi-shift scanning is the norm. Swap this pack directly into any of those three models — the OEM part number 441820900006 is shared across the series.
- PS236, PS236C, and PS336 compatibility: All three models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. Getac standardised the cell format across this scanner generation, so one pack covers the full platform without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on the PS236, monitoring BMS communication with the host device. The protection circuit responded correctly to charge termination, over-discharge cutoff, and thermal thresholds — no BMS fault codes triggered.
- First-shift prep for pick-and-pack operations: After installing this pack, seat the scanner in its charging cradle and run a full charge cycle before the first scan burst. Scan trigger inrush current spikes hardest when the cell is near minimum voltage. A fully charged cell on the first shift prevents the BMS from tripping on that initial load surge.
Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack
Getac charging cradles use contact resistance to verify pack seating before starting a charge cycle. If the cradle throws an error with a new battery, the dock contacts or pack contacts are the first place to check — not the battery itself. Wipe the gold contacts on both the pack and the cradle with a dry cloth, then reseat the scanner firmly until it clicks. If the error clears, the connection was the issue. If it persists, check that the cradle firmware supports the 441820900006 pack by reviewing the cradle's compatibility notes from Getac.
Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
During fast scan sequences, the PS236 draws simultaneously from the imager, the wireless radio, and the processor — combined inrush can cause brief voltage sag on a degraded or low cell. When the radio drops below its minimum operating voltage mid-burst, the wireless stack resets, and the connection drops. This is not a software fault — it is a cell-level voltage sag issue. Check the pack's charge level before a high-volume shift; keep it above 50% if wireless dropouts have been occurring.

Frequently Asked Questions
The PS236 scanner stopped reading barcodes right after I put the new battery in — is the battery faulty?
Almost always, this is a charge level issue, not a faulty pack. Replacement batteries ship at a storage charge, typically around 40–50%, and the PS236 imager needs a stable voltage rail to fire reliably. A cell near minimum can't sustain the laser or LED power the imager needs for a clean decode. Seat the scanner in its cradle, charge it fully to 4.2V per cell, then test the scan function.
My scanner runs noticeably warm after a few hours of continuous scanning — is that normal with this battery?
Sustained scan bursts combined with active wireless polling generate consistent draw inside an enclosed housing with limited airflow — some warmth is expected. What's not normal is the pack becoming hot to the touch or the scanner throttling performance. If the housing is uncomfortably warm, reduce scan burst frequency or allow a short rest between picking runs to let the housing dissipate heat. Check that the battery contacts are clean and seated flush, as a poor contact increases resistance and adds heat at the connection point.
The new battery doesn't seem to last as long per shift as the old one did on a full charge — what's happening?
A new lithium-ion cell often needs two or three full charge-discharge cycles before it reaches rated capacity. If you're comparing a first-shift result to a broken-in original pack, the numbers won't match yet. Run the scanner through full charge cycles in the cradle — charge to 100%, use it through normal scanning until the low-battery alert fires, then charge again. By the third cycle, capacity should stabilise at or near the rated 6800mAh.
