Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Topcon FC-236 / FC-336 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (60991)
This 3.7V 5200mAh Li-ion battery replaces the OEM 60991 pack in the Topcon FC-236 and FC-336 field controllers. Both units are handheld data collection devices used in surveying and construction. Same cell chemistry, same connector, same BMS-compatible voltage profile as the original.
- FC-236 and FC-336 shared platform: Both field controllers run the same internal power rail and use an identical battery bay and connector. One pack covers both units because the BMS handshake and charge termination voltage are the same across the pair.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the FC-236 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without error flags, hit full charge termination cleanly, and held stable voltage under sustained scan-trigger and wireless polling load.
- First-shift preparation on the FC-236: After fitting the new pack, seat the FC-236 in its cradle and run a full charge cycle before heading out. Scan-trigger inrush current spikes highest when the cell is near its minimum — a pre-charged pack stops the BMS from tripping on the first burst of rapid barcode reads.
Cradle charging error on a new 60991 pack
The FC-236 cradle reads pack state through spring-loaded dock contacts on the battery face. Oxidation or debris on those contacts raises resistance enough to trigger a charge error, even on a brand-new pack. Wipe the gold contact pads on both the battery and the cradle with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat the controller firmly. If the error clears, the contact surface was the fault — not the cell or the dock circuit.
Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
The FC-236 pulls from the battery simultaneously for the imager, the processor, and the wireless radio. During a fast burst of scans, the combined inrush from the scan trigger and the radio polling cycle can cause a momentary voltage sag. If the cell voltage dips below approximately 3.2V under that combined load, the BMS may interrupt current to protect the cell, dropping the wireless link. Charge the pack to full before high-frequency scan sessions and avoid running the device below the low-battery warning indicator.

Frequently Asked Questions
My FC-236 won't read barcodes after I swapped the battery — imager powers up but scans fail. What's wrong?
The FC-236 imager needs stable voltage above a minimum threshold to fire correctly — if the replacement pack was shipped at storage charge (typically around 3.6V), the cell may be too low to sustain the laser or imager power during the trigger pulse. Seat the device in its cradle and charge to full before attempting scans. Once the pack reaches 4.2V charge termination, the imager will have the headroom it needs and scan reads should return to normal.
The cradle is showing a charging error with the new battery, but the old pack charged fine. How do I fix it?
This is almost always a contact resistance issue, not a faulty cell. The spring contacts in the FC-236 cradle need a clean metal-to-metal connection to communicate charge state with the pack. Wipe the gold contact pads on the battery face and the corresponding cradle pins with a dry lint-free cloth, then press the controller firmly into the dock until it seats. If the charge error clears within 30 seconds of reseating, the contacts were the cause.
The FC-236 feels warm after an extended field shift — is that normal with this battery?
Sustained simultaneous draw from the imager, processor, and wireless radio in a compact enclosed housing will generate heat — this is normal operating behaviour for the FC-236 platform. What to watch for is heat that continues building after the shift ends or after the device is left idle. If the pack surface exceeds comfortable hand contact after 10 minutes of rest, check that the BMS hasn't been cycling due to repeated near-minimum discharge events. Keeping the pack above 20% charge during the shift reduces sustained high-current draw and lowers operating temperature.
