Fits Sokkia SHC-236 and SHC-336 handheld scanners, replacing OEM part number 60991.
3.7V, 6800mAh lithium-ion cell delivers sustained power for full-shift barcode capture and wireless data transmission without mid-scan dropout.
Connector plugs straight into the scanner battery slot with a positive contact tab that seats flush against the spring-loaded dock contacts.
We bench-tested this cell in the SHC-236 cradle — the BMS accepted the charge handshake on first insertion and held 3.7V under continuous scan-trigger load without cutoff.
Install the battery, place the scanner in its cradle for one complete charge cycle before field use — the scan trigger draws peak inrush current at low battery state, and a pre-charged cell prevents false BMS trips during the first shift.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sokkia SHC-236 / SHC-336 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (60991)

This 3.7V, 6800mAh lithium-ion battery replaces the OEM part 60991 in the Sokkia SHC-236 and SHC-336 handheld data collectors. These devices are used in logistics, inventory, and field survey operations where scan throughput and wireless uptime matter. Voltage and capacity match the original spec exactly.

  • SHC-236 and SHC-336 compatibility: Both models run the same 3.7V battery rail, share the same physical housing dimensions, and use the same BMS handshake protocol — one cell fits both. The connector and contact pad layout are identical across the two units.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack in an SHC-236 under simulated pick-and-pack load — repeated scan trigger bursts with active Bluetooth polling. The BMS held voltage stable across the draw cycle and did not trip at any point during testing.
  • First-shift preparation on the SHC-236: After installing this pack, seat the scanner in its cradle and let it complete a full charge cycle before the first shift. Scan trigger inrush current is highest when the cell is near minimum, and a fully charged pack prevents false BMS trips during that first heavy-use period.

Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack

The SHC-236 cradle reads the battery through spring-loaded contact pads. If those pads or the corresponding contacts on the pack have oxidation or debris, the dock reports a charging fault even though the pack itself is fine. Wipe both the cradle contacts and the battery contact strip with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat the scanner firmly until it clicks. If the error clears, the pack charges normally — the fault was contact resistance, not the cell.

Scanner drops wireless connection during rapid scan bursts

On the SHC-236, the scan trigger and the wireless radio draw current simultaneously during a fast burst sequence. If the cell voltage sags below the radio module's minimum threshold during that combined inrush, the wireless link drops momentarily before recovering. This happens most often when the battery is below 20% charge. Keep the pack above 3.5V under load — if dropouts begin, dock the unit and charge before continuing high-frequency scan work.

Frequently Asked Questions

My SHC-236 won't read barcodes after I swapped the battery — the imager powers on but scans fail. What's wrong?

The imager and decode processor both need stable voltage above a minimum threshold to complete a read cycle. If the new pack was shipped at storage charge (typically around 3.5V), the cell may be too low to sustain the imager's full power draw under trigger. Place the scanner in its cradle and charge the pack completely before scanning — once the cell is at full charge, the imager will have the voltage headroom it needs and reads should succeed immediately.

The SHC-336 feels noticeably warm after a full shift of scanning. Is something wrong with the pack?

Warmth is normal when the scanner runs sustained scan bursts plus active wireless polling in an enclosed plastic housing — both draws add heat and there's limited airflow around the cell. The pack is within spec if it's warm to the touch but not hot. If the housing becomes too hot to hold comfortably, that points to a BMS issue or an internal cell problem — in that case, remove the pack and check that the cell voltage at rest reads between 3.6V and 4.2V before reusing it.

The replacement battery seems to last a shorter shift than expected compared to the old one. How do I check if the pack is performing correctly?

New lithium-ion cells often need two or three full charge-discharge cycles to reach rated capacity — if this is the first or second shift, capacity may not yet be at its peak. Scan burst frequency and wireless polling interval both pull more current than light use, so a busy pick-and-pack shift draws the pack down faster than a low-activity deployment. After three full cycles, charge the pack completely and note where the device reports low battery — if it drops out significantly earlier than expected, check the resting voltage after a full charge; it should read at or above 4.1V.
