Fits GFive A78, A79, A86, and I88 smartphones replacing OEM part number A08.
3.7V, 1750mAh lithium-ion cell delivers the capacity this phone's fuel gauge IC expects from factory.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with no mechanical modification or adapter needed.
We bench-tested the cell on a discharged A78 unit — BMS accepted the pack on first insertion and voltage stabilized within two minutes.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle so the fuel gauge IC recalibrates against this cell's discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

GFive A78 / A79 / A86 / I88 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (A08)

This is a 3.7V, 1750mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the GFive A78, A79, A86, and I88 smartphones. It replaces OEM part number A08 and matches the original cell's voltage and capacity exactly. If your phone shuts down unexpectedly or no longer holds charge, this cell restores it to working condition.

  • A78 / A79 / A86 / I88 shared platform: These four models run the same 3.7V battery rail, use the same physical footprint (65.00 × 44.16 × 5.20mm), and accept the same BMS handshake. One part number covers all four devices because the hardware is electrically identical at the battery interface.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on a GFive A78 unit. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, charge termination triggered correctly at 4.2V, and low-voltage cutoff engaged at the expected threshold.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration after install: On first use after installing this cell, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle at standard rate. This gives the fuel gauge IC time to map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on a new replacement cell

This happens when the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old, degraded cell's voltage curve. The new cell's voltage drops more steeply under modem or screen load than the gauge expects, so the phone cuts power before the percentage reaches zero. It is not a fault in the replacement cell — it is a mismatch between the stored discharge model and the new cell's actual behaviour. Run two full discharge-charge cycles at standard charge rate and the gauge will relearn the curve.

Phone shows wrong battery percentage after cell swap

The coulomb counter inside the phone's fuel gauge IC retains data from the previous cell. After replacing the battery, the OS reads that stored data against a cell with a different internal resistance and capacity state, producing inaccurate percentage readings. Percentages may jump erratically or freeze for long periods. Let the phone discharge to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the coulomb counter baseline to the new cell.

Frequently Asked Questions

My GFive A78 won't turn on after the replacement battery sat unused for a few months — is the new cell dead?

It is likely in BMS lockout, not dead. If a Li-ion cell discharges below roughly 2.5V during storage, the BMS cuts output to protect the cell from damage. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell until voltage rises above the BMS threshold, at which point the phone will boot normally.

Fast charging stopped working on my A78 after I fitted the new battery — it only charges slowly now.

On the first cycle after a cell swap, the phone's charging IC often defaults to standard rate until it verifies BMS communication with the new cell. This is normal behaviour, not a fault. Let the phone complete one full charge to 100% at the slow rate, then disconnect and reconnect the charger — fast charge protocol negotiation resets at the start of a new charge session and should activate on the second cycle.

The battery percentage on my GFive A79 drops from 30% to zero instantly under load — screen-on or a call triggers it.

This is a voltage cliff — under modem or display load, the new cell's voltage sags faster than the fuel gauge IC predicts based on its stored discharge model. The phone interprets the sudden voltage drop as empty and shuts down as a protective measure. Run two complete discharge-charge cycles at standard charge rate without interrupting them. After the second cycle, the fuel gauge IC will have enough data points to track the new cell's actual discharge curve and the sudden shutdowns will stop.
